Hello,
Installed Ascend Premium, WPLM, and would like to add WPML Language Switcher after the header extras.
Currently, this language switcher is between the hearder menu and extra, but would like to move it to after the header extras.
Tried to add this language switcher to the “widget area”, but no affect.
Please help. Thanks.
Kind regards,
In forum: Ascend ThemeIn reply to: Adding A Blog Post Carousel
Hello,
For a blog carousel to show on your home page, rather than use the home latest posts, try enabling the home widget area.
Then go to Appearance> Widgets and add an “Ascend Carousel” to the widget area. Configure the carousel to show posts as needed, and you should be set.
Does that work for you?

You should be able to drag widgets into the custom sidebar widget area in your appearance > widgets page.

I’m trying to eliminate unused plugins, and want to determine whether I need (actually whether I’m currently using) the Woo Sidebars plugin, or if that’s something that Virtue is covering for me. It’s been quite a while since I set this up, and I don’t remember if I’m actually using the Woo. I’m afraid of deactivating it if it’s really in use.
Currently, under Widget Areas, I see: Shopping Sidebar, and Checkout Sidebar. I don’t use any plugins in the Checkout Sidebar, but I do use different ones in Shopping than Primary.
Would I still have this functionality — being able to use a different sidebar for shopping pages than my primary sidebar — if I disable the Woo Sidebars plugin?

Hannah,
Thank you for the response.
Well, that’s my problem. In Appearance> Widgets….there is no option for header widget.
I only have:
Instagram Slider – Shortcode Generator
Primary Sidebar
sidebar1
Top Widget
Home Widget Area
Footer Column 1, 2, 3, 4Am I missing something?

Thanks Hannah,
That fixed the top part. But the gap between the two images is still there.
How do I get rid of the gap below the header image and the next image right below it?
In the home widget area I am using layout builder with two visual editor widgets.https://www.screencast.com/t/ero43SqX0
Thanks.

In forum: Virtue ThemeHi, All,
I am unable to find instructions on how to place a widget in header. I found this, but it doesn’t tell me where the widget is that I use or where to actually place the widget.

Hmmm…I don’t see an extra row…I’ve used a layout builder widget in the header widget area.

March 8, 2019 at 10:49 pm #219117Hey, Thanks for posting!
In terms of social media. You make it sound like there are already links on your site? can post a link to your site so I can see what you want to edit? Likely you have a widget in one of your widget areas. You can access that from your appearance > widgets page.
As for the blog pages, or a portfolio page. You wrote “instead of having to chose every single time” but for most sites they would only have one blog page and one portfolio page, maybe two portfolio pages but because of the nature of those types of archives it isn’t really something you should have to set a lot or on a regular basis.
You can set the archive defaults in your theme options. But for pages using the custom page templates you set those when you create the pages. Does that make sense?
Let me know!

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: center text in row
Hello,
One option that may be easy to do is to add the text to the subtitle area of a Virtue Call to Action widget. Set the font to match the style you need, and it should automatically center the text. This will remove the need for centering CSS.
Does that work for you?

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: How to add text to home page, where is it?
Hey,
Enabling Page Content in the homepage layout manager will either pull your latest posts onto the page or your static page content. You can determine which shows from Settings > Reading. If you choose a static page, you can create a new page and call it home, or whatever you want, then choose that page from Settings > Reading. You could also add text to your homepage by enabling the home widget area in the homepage layout manager (settings > reading) and adding a visual editor or text widget from Appearance > Widgets.
Hope that’s helpful!Hannah

I want to give more space to the logo area. now it gives 8/12 to the widget area ande just 4’12 to the logo area. I would like to give 8/12 to the logo area and 4/12 to the widget area. Also, when I upgraded from the virtue free theme there has appeared two narrow lines below de header. How can I remove them?
Thank you in advance. In forum: Ascend ThemeIn reply to: Extra widget in Home Page
Hi Simon,
There isn’t a built-in function to add another widget area to the homepage layout manager, but you could set your home page as a static page and add widgets to your static homepage through a page builder plugin such as Elementor or Page Builder by Siteorigin. With either of those plugins you could add widgets to any of your pages.
Hope that’s helpful!Hannah
