Add more icons as a font

There is a great feature with Virtue_Icons font, which is easily placed anywhere with <i class=”icon-menu></i> for example. But I miss some icons in it.
Is there ways to add own icon font to the theme and have it working the same way, by adding <i class=”icon-potato”></i> for example.
What would be the steps I should I take to make it? Thanks!
