API license key activation

I have a message “The theme update API License Key has not been activated! Click here to activate the license api key.”
After reviewing some of the old forum posts about API, it seems to cause any number of problems. Not certain if I should just ignore this. If this means anything, I don’t have access to control panel via Go Daddy. My client’s plan doesn’t provide that at this time like other clients.
In addition, on one of Ben’s replies in a forum post May 17, he has “What is the consequence of not activating the API key? Eventually you will not receive updates automatically (where you can update within wordpress) for the theme and you won’t be able to update plugins that are bundled with the theme.”
Is this relevant to API activation? Your input welcomed. I have Virtue Premium as a child. *Login to see link
