Can’t get hamburger menu for mobile home page

Hello, this is probably a very basic question which is why I can’t see anything in the forum. Basically, I want the hamburger menu icon on the mobile homepage version of my site but I can’t for the life of me work out how to do this (I think I’ve tried everything in the theme options on the WordPress dashboard). I would appreciate your help.
