Change lightbox caption from filename to caption?

Hi there,

When I create an image gallery on a page or post, then go back and edit the gallery and add an image caption, the caption I added shows below the thumbnail on the page but when the image is clicked the caption shown below the image in lightbox display of the image is the filename only.

Can I have the caption I added when I edited the gallery persist as the caption shown when the image is clicked on and displayed in lightbox?

Better yet, when I go in the media library there is the option to edit the image with Caption, Alternative Text, Description. I would rather add the info there and be able to call that in the lightbox or wherever I use the image.

I tried some code options from these like caption=true but still only filename.

Can you edit the lightbox behavior or do I need to try another lightbox plugin? Is the lightbox plugin part of WordPress or part of your theme? Sorry for all the questions but I am transitioning from having done many sites in DotNetNuke to working with WP.

thanks again for a great theme,

Will, Planet Maine
