Columns shortcode not working

Adding columns to a page using the Insert Columns tool doesn’t seem to be working for me. The short code gets added, but results with the column contents just in paragraph format, with no columns. Same with using the Visual Aids pull down selection on the Insert Columns dialog box.
Running Premium Child as active with Premium 1.9.9.
