Custom Icon only menu?

Hi there, I am wanting to make a custom menu using only icons.
I have followed the instructions on your blog here, which works great accept I do not want the words under the icon.
I thought by leaving the navigation label blank the menu would show the icon only, but unfortunately this didn’t work.
Do you have any suggestions?
