Feature Image from external URL

Hi,

I have many images on my server that I would like to use as Feature Images in the Portfolio. The images are in a folder that is outside of the wordpress folder. I don’t want to create a copy of the existing images into the uploads folder of the wordpress site. That would give me two copies on the same server.

Is there a way that I can use a “from url” option in the Featured images to point to the image that is outside the wordpress folder.
