Forced Dev Mode Off Enabled

Hi,
Yesterday, I noticed that I had a red block warning me that “Forced Dev Mode Off Enabled” in one of my websites.
I tried updating my theme (from 3.0 via 3.4.0 to 3.7.5, but this did not clear the message).
I do not know what is causing this warning, but the front and back end seem to be working fine (except for something weird with the mobile header logo in Firefox, but I will post this as a separate issue).
Any suggestions much appreciated.
