Gallery Link URL in image settings not working in Gallery (Adv)

Entered external URLs for dozens of images while inside the gallery (right side of page under alt tags and all that stuff).
Links did not work. Had to exit the gallery and add links inside blue box on image while in page edit mode.
Is that the expected behavior? Seems like a bug.
