Looking for cross bestween 'Home Portfolio Carousel' and 'Home Image Menu'

So it would behave just like a portfolio carousel but would not be ‘built’ out of portfolio posts. It would be like Home Image Menu in that you just created it from scratch as far as images and links but you could choose several images per category that randomly displayed so if you had 4 images across that each linked to their own page the visitor would see a different photo each time they landed on the home page for that category and they could scroll through the images in each category like in portfolio carousel.

Example

Monkeys Cats Reptiles Birds

and clicking ‘Cats’ would take you to that page but you could scroll through a few photos for each on the home page.

Hope this makes sense. Maybe it exists in something already in the theme?
