Permanently change template order – single post

Hello,
I am using the Pinnacle Premium theme. I want the comments template to appear on the single post page before the related posts carousel. I am able to do that by modifying the file /lib/template_hooks/single_post.php, but I loose that customization with each theme update. Is it possible to make this change stay even after a template update? Perhaps add an ordering function to the theme options?
