Problem installing recommended slider plugins for Virtue Premium

I have set up a Virtue Premium theme to use as a development site for a new client, but have been unable to upload the recommended slider plugins, and consequently cannot import the client’s preferred demo version of the theme.
It would be appreciated if you could let me know what the likely problem is, and whether it is a server issue, one that I should be able to remedy or something else?
