Problem with multiple shipping methodes

Hey guys.
When on my checkout page, i have the option to chose between 2 different shipping classes. I can choose “free shipping” or “shipping for 6,99.
It is, that customers get free shipping, when they buy for more than xx euros. But when they then are about to buy for xxx euros, they still have the opportunity to pay for the shipping even though its free. How can i disable this option?
