Scrolling News display no image in footer

Hello,
Is there a way I can have scrolling (horizontally) news items in the footer.
I have tried custom carousel, carousel, posts, etc and it pulls through the image which I don’t want and also not a standard length of exceprt so it looks all over the place?
Any suggestions?
