Staff Shortcode Order Glitch

I’m hoping you can help me figure this out. I’m using the staff shortcode with orderby=menu_order. I have entered an order number for all 9 of my staff members. For some reason, employees in the 7th and 8t position will not follow the menu order. I’ve tried using the numbers 1-9 for the staff members. I’ve tried 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40. I’ve tried numbering the last 3 way higher up.
I’ve tried to order by date and that works but they show up in the opposite order that I need them in. I think they’re in descending and I need ascending.
Please help!
