styling portfolio tag pages possible?

Hi there,
I would like to direct more traffic to my site using the portfolio tag pages. Could you give me some indications how to style those pages? Right now they look like this:

I’ve used “<span style=”color: white; background-color: black;”>” in the description field to make the text legible.
I would like to have a white padded box around the (black) text, similar to: *Login to see link
Is that possible?
