Target the first letter of each menu item

Good afternoon!

I’m trying to change only the first letter of each menu item to gold but I’m unsure what to target to get this to work.

For example to target the first letter in every <p> element I’d use this:
p::first-letter {
color: #C4BB98;
}

Could you please tell me what I need to target for the primary menu items?
