transparent menu not consistent

Hi there. I am working with both an iMac desktop and a Macbook Pro.
When I log in on my desktop, the transparent menu shows up.
When I log in on my Macbook Pro, the menu shows on a white background.
How do I set it to show up consistently on any machine?
I am using Chrome as my browser.
