Would update to premium break parts of our site?

Greetings,
My clients at aacfm.org have decided they’d like some text in the header area, mentioning that they are now registering participants for an upcoming workshop and for fall classes. I have purchased premium Virtue but ended up using free Virtue on this site.
I believe I need the premium version to add some text to the header at this point … is that right?
If I upgrade the existing site, wouldn’t that mess up some of the settings since they were configured for free Virtue?
