Feature Request - Event Block

Greetings, Feature Request for an Event block, please? The Date inside a black box which overlays the image is what we’re after to make it look professional and to make the date obvious – rather than a date below the image. We don’t need or want a full-blown calendar. We’re a small nonprofit community center with only one or two events every month. We've tried 28 calendar plugins, including the "top three" most popular plugins, and they're all too complicated or overkill for our modest needs. I’m the only techie in the group, so we can’t work with shortcodes and our events solution needs to be “wysiwyg”. Making events with columns has proven too cumbersome and counter-intuitive for the 20-something staffer who will eventually take over the website. Hoping for an event block that can make an event that looks like the events on the below linked page. We're currently using "Event Block" by Automattic, but it's no longer in development and so has some downfalls (no "Date TBA" ability, not "clickable" so we can have it open to a details page we've made) – but the staffer says it's easy to understand and work with.
