Reveal Formatting Differences for Block Settings
Hello Kadence Team,
Firstly, I want to thank you for the fantastic work you’ve done with the Kadence Theme and Blocks. They have significantly improved my workflow and the overall experience of building websites.
I am writing to suggest a feature that I believe would greatly enhance the usability of the block editor. Often, while working on a project, I find myself asking, "Why does Block X look slightly different than Block Y?" This typically leads to a time-consuming process of reviewing each block's settings to identify the discrepancies.
To streamline this process, I propose adding a feature similar to Microsoft Word's "Reveal Formatting." This feature would provide a quick overview of the settings applied to a selected block, highlighting any deviations from the default settings.
Feature Details:
1. Overview of Applied Settings: A panel or tooltip that shows the current settings of the selected block.
2. Highlight Differences: Clearly indicate changes from the default settings. For example:
+ If the default padding is 16px and it has been changed, show the new value (e.g., 24px).
+ If the default margin is 24px and it has been adjusted to 32px, highlight this change.
+ Show text styling changes such as bold, italic, font size adjustments, etc.
3. Quick Access: Easy access to this overview without navigating through multiple settings panels.
Benefits:
Efficiency: Quickly identify differences between blocks, saving time and effort.
Consistency: Ensure uniformity in design by easily spotting and correcting discrepancies.
Ease of Use: Simplifies the debugging process for block settings, especially for users managing complex layouts.
Thank you for considering this suggestion.
