    Hey team

What’s the best way to fetch and display categories for a custom post type?

I’d like to fetch and display 6 specific categories from a CPT and display the image with text overlay.

For example, I have a CPT called ‘Recipes’ and I’d like to display; Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner etc….

I’ve tried the image overlay and various others, but there does not seem to be a suitable method.

Currently I’m thinking I’ll have to do it manually one by one (perhaps using the background image in a row section) – I just wanted to ask to see if there is a faster / better way?

Sorry bout that… I found the widget addon and did use it like the old theme. However that seems not to let me add a second widget for the mobile/tablet view???? Not sure why the HTML doesn’t work in the header. I have tried e few snippets inside a page and it does work using what seems to be the same editor….but not in the header????

How can I remove the “search” from there.

    Hi there,

    My site:

I’m using the Post Grid/Carousel block to create category pages. The goal is to have the category pages in the same layout as the home page. (I use Generatepress as the theme.)

    I also use pagination.

However, when I open page 2, the posts from page 1 show. No matter what page I press, the page 1 posts always appear.

I’ve read somewhere that the Post Grid/Carousel doesn’t work on archives. Is that my problem?

Other than that, thank you for an awesome plugin.

I’m new to Kadence Blocks and Theme.

I’ve seen you can setup 3 palettes (9 colors each) in the theme configuration.

I’m creating a set of “landing pages” to hire team for an startup. Those landings are based off Gutenberg and Kadence Blocks.

    I want to create a:

    – Main “light mode” palette
    – Main “dark mode” palette
    – Secondary palette for highlighting.

    Now I want this:

    1. Create a new page based off the “light mode”
    2. Add several rows alternating between light and dark.
    3. Some one every 4 or 5 rows will be with highlighted content.

What I expect is to tell the system “hey, this full row goes with this palette”.

This way I won’t have to go into every block/element (say a row is made of 30 blocks) and change the fore and back for every text, border, background, link, etc.

    – How are those 3 palettes reusable for different rows in a page?

    Hi Jeremy.

Please note that your website speed will not solely depend on the theme. It will take into account your server response speed, content, and more. The PageSpeed Insights will point those out to you.

Basically, when a browser loads a page, it reads the HTML from top to bottom. For each resource such as CSS and JS files, the browser will request that from a server, wait for the response, download it, and show it to the page. If you have a slow server and or a lot of resources that are requested from third-party domains, then that will really affect the loading of your page(s).

For me, it is not recommended to load the Google Analytics(GA) script locally as that may affect their functions. Third-party resources such as GA scripts may push out changes in their codes without notice, so it is better to request it from their domain itself. On the other hand, you can do this but you’ll have to make sure that there’s a CRON job that runs once daily to grab the latest copy of the latest Google Analytics script from their servers.

The opportunity that I can see from the Google PageSpeed Insights on mobile is to serve images in next-gen formats. For both devices, I think you can still combine resources to try and reduce the requests. There is an option for that with the WP Rocket plugin.

For desktop, I can see that you have a large image being used on the first row – https://share.getcloudapp.com/YEukEQ9E. I would suggest optimizing that image and/or all of your images to reduce the loading time.

Here are additional resources that you can refer to:

I hope this helps and let us know if we can assist you further.

We have read through those and implemented the suggestions that we can.

Still the only way to get the 90 or higher score on google page speed is by hosting google analytics locally

    Thanks

I’m not sure if this is related or not, but I was getting an unspecified http 500 error upon updating to the latest version of Shop Kit. The error would only appear when trying to access individual product pages whether from the front end or back end. The rest of the site worked as expected.

I also have PHO 8.0, and WordPress, Kadence Theme and WooCommerce are all up to date. Rolling back my server to this morning (prior to Shop Kit upgrade) fixed the issue.

    Hello,

I have a problem with switching to dark mode. Everything works fine, but when I switch from light to dark theme, images on website change color.

For example, I have images that are made to blend into row background. Image background and row background colors are the same so on the page it looks like one object. When I change to dark mode images change color and this is not the situation anymore. It is clear on screenshots.

Same is happening for all images across the website. I tried it on different browsers, on different PCs and on mobile phones and tablets.

Can you please help me? I don’t want colors on images to be changed with dark mode switch.

This is the link for the website: rch/

    Thank you.

    Hi there!

Upon inspecting your website, I can see that you’re using the free Ascend theme, not Ascend Premium. The “kad_imgmenu_widget” widget is only available with Ascend Premium.

To check which theme you’re using, log in to your website as an administrator. Then, go to Appearance > Themes. If you do not see “Ascend Premium”, download it from your Kadence WP account on this page. Then, follow the steps here.

Before doing the steps above, I will recommend creating a website backup so you will have something to revert to(if errors occur). If changes happen after switching to Ascend Premium theme, kindly follow the steps here – https://docs.kadencewp.com/ascend-premium/upgrade-from-free-to-premium/.

I hope this helps and let us know if we can assist you further.

    Hi Jan Mark,

I checked the page and saw the script added multiple times.

You can add the script in Page Editor > Kadence Blocks Controls > Page Scripts > Footer. Here’s a screen recording: https://share.getcloudapp.com/2NumeQn2

Otherwise, add the script sitewide in Customizer > Custom Scripts > Footer. You can do that since you have the Kadence Pro plugin:
    https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-theme/knowledge-base/pro-addon/how-to-add-scripts-in-header-footer/

I hope this helps and let us know if you need further assistance.

    Hi!
This script works fine with a modal on a page, but not when the modal is within an accordion pane. The form is send, but the modal does not close.
I use 2 standard forms on https://srs.saxion.nl/vragen/#ISBN-DOI to request an ISBN or DOI for our researchers (it is in test so go-ahead).
I’ve placed the script on the page itself, placed it also within the accordion pane and in the modal (DOI form only). No succes.

Any idea how to fix this?

    Regards,

    Jan Mark

    Hi Francisco!

Upon inspecting your page, you have a Mixed Content error – https://share.getcloudapp.com/nOuXr4nx.

Basically, the font file is not being loaded properly because your website is in HTTPS and the fonts are being called with an HTTP URL. Try to fix this error by following the steps in this post: https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-fix-the-mixed-content-error-in-wordpress-step-by-step/.

Alternatively, you can reach out to your hosting provider to help you with this. Once the font files can be loaded, the font you’re using should show properly.

I hope this helps and let us know how we could help you further.

    Kind Regards,
    Karla

    Hi!

The original inquiry is about “making parent pages in the menu clickable on mobile”.

“Is there a solution also for the desktop navigation?”

Please note that menu items will by default be clickable. If you’re using Custom Links for menu items, double-check your if they have their links. Otherwise, update them with the correct links – https://share.getcloudapp.com/Z4uABEz7.

On the other hand, if you have the Kadence Theme Pro addon and you’re using the Ultimate Menu feature, check each parent menu item’s settings and see if you’ve enabled the “Disable Link” option. This option will remove the links so if you want the menu items to have links, turn off that option – https://share.getcloudapp.com/jkuXBjne.

I hope this helps and let us know if we can assist you further.

    Hi Niel,

Thanks for getting in touch. I believe you can do this with the free version of the Kadence Blocks. You can use the Section overlay setting of the Row Layout Block to add a different image for the normal and hover state to achieve this effect.

    Here’s a screen recording for reference: https://share.getcloudapp.com/geuRQ71R

You can visit this page for more information about the Kadence Row Layout block: https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-blocks/row-layout-block/

And this page for more information about our products: https://www.kadencewp.com

I hope this helps answer your inquiry. If you have further questions, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to help out.

    Best regards,
    Teejay.

    Hi There,

Thanks for getting in touch. As long as you are using a staging environment and your current live site is not affected, I would say you can do either, depending on what you prefer.

Option 1 would provide a cleaner install of the Theme and Starter Template since the Starter templates are intended to be what you start with on a fresh site. The primary functions of this plugin are to add the customization settings for the theme, add the pages/posts/products and media files, install and activate required plugins so that when the import is finished, it will look and function as intended. This will give you a clearer picture of what the default/initial setup of the Starter Templates should/would look like before you add any contents or other plugins that may affect its default state. If you’ll be able to successfully migrate all your contents from your current website over to this set up, this is a good option.

Option 2 would require less effort since you will be starting from a duplicate of your website and then just essentially trying or testing out a new Theme settings. You’ll be able to see how your original contents would adjust or look in a different setting.

Since you already have thousands of contents, I believe these are good options.

For the additional question. Yes, you will be able to use the Starter Templates if you are using a Kadence Child Theme.

I hope this helps answer your inquiry. If you have further questions, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to help out.

    Best regards,
    Teejay.

I am using kadence theme, with kadence blocks and other kadence plugins, hosted on kinsta, with cloudflare and wp rocket.

The only way I was able to get consistent 90 and above mobile page speed scores on google insights was by using rankmaths option to host google analytics locally.

Do you have other recommendations for speeding up the site?

    Jeremy
