    Hi everyone!

    New-ish to Kadence Theme/Blocks, and I am running into an issue with a site I am putting together for a client. My client wants a landing page featuring navigation bars similar to the ones that appear here: Basically, a row of 3 images that when hovered, the background becomes a semi-opaque grey and the cover text appears.

    I know the Image Overlay block in the Pro add-on makes this easy, but my client has a pretty basic site otherwise and we can’t justify the price just for a couple of blocks on one page.

    I have been working with the Section block, the Row Layout block, using advanced images and covers. I have working the Z-indexes and other CSS (display: none, :hover, etc.) and have been unable to find a solution: the images in the row remain in the “front”: the background on hover only changes in the gutters and the text doesn’t display.

    After a couple of hours, and with even custom HTML not working, I struggling. Any help would be incredible!

    Hi Claire,

    One way to see if the issue is related to the Kadence Theme is to temporarily change the theme to a WordPress Default theme like the Twenty Twenty-One theme.

    If the issue is resolved when using the default theme, it could be related to the Kadence Theme.

    I checked your website and I am not able to submit the subscription form indeed.

    Here’s a screen recording for reference: https://share.getcloudapp.com/6quwBdvz

    There is a 401 unauthorized error.

    This error typically occurs when a user or client is trying to access a resource (such as a web page or API endpoint) that requires authentication, but the client’s request doesn’t include the necessary credentials or the credentials provided are incorrect. Troubleshooting the specific cause of the error may require examining the server logs, checking your authentication code, or contacting the service administrator for assistance.

    Here’s an article on how to fix 401 errors in general: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-401-error-in-wordpress-solutions/

    Have you also tried reaching out to MailPoet’s support team to see what could be causing this issue when using their form?

    I hope this helps. If you have further questions, please let us know; we’ll be happy to help.

    Best regards,
    Teejay.

    Never mind. I figured it out after seeing a thread about ACF having to reference the page by id on the blog archive page. By setting the element to use the actual blog page directly rather than “current post” it worked. So I guess I just make a separate element set to each such archive page I’ll need (blog, shop, etc). Feel free to add any additional tips and tricks that I may have missed.

    Hi, I’ve followed the threads/discussions to add an ACF custom subtitle to my regular pages using ACF to create the custom field and place it on the page backend and then a Kadence Element to pull it into the front end as a subtitle on the pages. That works fine. But I’m trying to do the same for the Blog page and the Shop page. Both are actual pages but designated as the Blog and Shop archives. I have a separate element set up that’s displaying the subtitle using ARCHIVE: Above Title Content but it’s showing the fallback I entered “Empty Archive Subtitle” and not pulling the content of the custom ACF field from the Blog and Shop backend. So it seems the element is not properly connected to the ACF field on those pages when used as archives. Can this be done and what settings would I use in the element?

    Test pages are here:

    About test page working fine:

    Blog test page pulling default fallback subtitle:

    Shop test page pulling default fallback subtitle:

    Thanks for any tips!

    Hi Dejan,

    Is it the Classic Editor from the Classic Editor plugin, or you have a different page builder from a third-party plugin?

    Can you please try to:
    * install and activate the Classic Editor plugin
    * enable switching of editors
    * edit your page via block editor
    * use one of the following blocks I’ve mentioned above

    Please let me know if this workaround works for you.

    Additionally, the Classic Editor will only be supported and maintained until 2024, and I recommend familiarizing yourself with the WordPress block editor.

    Best,
    Chito

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the link to the page.

    I see the Modal is placed outside the content area – see screenshot: https://share.zight.com/8Lu6Jbqk

    Enabling the “Load Content After Footer” option should resolve the issue – see screenshot of the setting: https://share.zight.com/yAunvDJQ

    That option provides better support for a modal if placed outside the content area.

    Let us know how it goes.

    Best,
    Chito

    Hi there,

    Sorry to hear the issue persists.

    To test this further, can you please try deactivating all the plugins except for Kadence Blocks and Yoast SEO, and see if it makes a difference?

    Also, does this happen to all pages or only to a specific page? If this happens only to a specific page, can you create a new page and see how it goes there?

    If the issue persists, please submit a ticket if one of the following links, so we can look closer:

    Or simply, can Blog Grid Page or Post Grid Archive Page have a visible date instead of a calendar tooltip and how ?

    #285696

    Hi there,

    Recaptcha hasn’t been working on my Mailpoet newsletter signup forms since at least Saturday, maybe longer. No matter how many times you try to solve the captcha, it always says you’re wrong.

    I’ve tried disabling different plugins to see if there’s a conflict but I’m not finding it. This is a difficult thing to test because I can’t just keep signing up for my own newsletter using my same email address 50 times a day, it will give an error. So a shot-in-the-dark trial and error approach to testing my signup form over and over again after disabling plugins is not a good strategy.

    Mailpoet support suggested a cache conflict and recommended I exclude every page on my website that has a signup form from my cache, but the form is on EVERY PAGE across my whole website so I’m not doing that. Their other suggestion is that it could be a conflict with the theme.

    Does anyone have any idea if the Kadence theme could cause issues for MailPoet’s built in captcha function?

    This is my website. If you try to sign up for the newsletter form as a test and it does not ask you to type in a captcha, that is probably because I am actively messing around in the settings and I might be changing it back and forth from “disable captcha” to “enable captcha” multiple times a day while trying to figure this out.

    Thanks,
    Claire

    Hello !

    I have a page which should contain some decrees and it is important that they are dated, of course. There is calendar date tooltip, but should be visible. It can be done with classic Blog page template, but Blog Grid is better solution.
    So, is there a way to do that, like “Latest Blog Posts” on Home page e.g.

    I’m stuck or I missed something …

    Thanks

    Hello,
    I’ve created an advanced form and within that form is a text link to a terms and conditions & privacy policy modal. The link works as expected in desktop view but does not work on mobile view. Is there a way to fix this?

    Here is the page:

    Hi Gary,

    I reviewed your first message and I understand what you are trying to achieve. However, it is indeed very difficult, if not impossible to achieve with the structure you previously have.

    To answer your questions:

    1. Is this the correct approach or should I be doing this differently?

    I believe that in this case, this is the correct approach. If this is the layout you ultimately want to achieve for both the desktop/tablet and mobile, this is the best way to do this.

    2. If row layouts are not visible on say desktop and tablet, do they still get loaded on mobile (ie: will my site load slower)?

    Yes, the hidden Row Layouts will still be loaded. They are just hidden using CSS. However, this does not necessarily mean that the site will load slower. This will still depend on the complexity, content, and amount of elements that are being loaded. In this case, you just have a few images and texts in each of the Row Layout blocks being displayed conditionally. I believe this will not have any significant effect on page load.

    3. I tried making the mobile version out of 1 row with 1 column and with sections for each (headline, image, body copy), but I’m not sure how to make the background extend to the full width of the phone screen. Hence I used the row layout. Is there any advantage of using sections as opposed to row layouts in this scenario besides having only 1 row layout in my list view?

    There is no hard rule that you should use one container block (Row Layout block or Section block) over the other. This will depend on the settings you need and what the design requires.

    Here’s an article on using nested Sections versus Row Layouts & Sections: https://www.kadencewp.com/blog/introducing-kadence-blocks-2-4-and-kadence-blocks-pro-1-7

    I hope this helps. If you have further questions, please let us know; we’ll be happy to help.

    Hi there,

    Layout shifts can be caused by a variety of factors, and they often occur when unexpected changes in the web page’s layout happen after it has been initially rendered. One possible reason is Ads and Third-Party Content. Advertisements and embedded third-party content, such as social media widgets, often load additional resources and can trigger layout shifts when they render or load asynchronously.

    I see that your production website has ads being inserted into the page.

    I tried to see more details about the CLS report and I see that the report regarding the CLS is mostly pertaining to the top most content of the page.

    Here’s a screenshot for reference: https://share.getcloudapp.com/Blu2NmoW

    When I tried to load this page on the browser, the content would indeed shift. This is because of the ads being inserted dynamically on the page.

    Here’s a screen recording for reference: https://share.getcloudapp.com/qGuYD4rk

    This is only one possible cause but I suspect this is what’s contributing to the layout shift most.

    I hope this helps. If you have further questions, please let us know; we’ll be happy to help.

    Best regards,
    Teejay.

    Hi Lea,

    Yes, the pagination reloads the page, so it is expected behavior to show the content from the very top.

    Here’s a screen recording for reference: https://share.getcloudapp.com/qGu6X5Ap

    There is no option with this block to scroll to its position after going to different pages.

    A workaround is to add a custom script, so it’ll scroll down to the block if the URL contains the “page” text:

    1. Insert the Post Grid/Carousel block inside a Row Layout block.
    2. Add an HTML Anchor in the Advanced Setting of the Row Layout block container of the Post Grid/Carousel block.
      As an example postsblock
    3. Add this Javascript in the Kadence Blocks Control > Page Scripts – In the footer.
    <script>
    if (window.location.href.indexOf("page") > -1) {
        scrollTo('postsblock');
    }
        function scrollTo(hash) {
        location.hash = "#" + hash;
        }
    </script>

    Here’s a screen recording for reference: https://share.getcloudapp.com/X6u79AWA

    I hope this helps. If I misunderstood what you’re trying to do or if what I have shown is still not working for you, please let us know, and we’ll be more than happy to help.

    Best regards,
    Teejay.

    Hi there, Im having the same error:

    The block editor requires JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript in your browser settings

    when try to edit posts or pages. Apparently a theme problem, according my server.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks a lot

    #285666

    I forgot to say that I’ve also the same problem if i create a new page from scratch.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hello,
    After several months i decided to change some pages on the website that i’ve made using kadence blocks.
    When i go to the editor of every page the text(adv) block are not visible (1st attached image) . Text still show normally on the website (2nd attached image). The problem is only in the backend.
    I’m attaching some images to show the problem.
    Additionally, I can “Edit as HTML” and that show the content (as you can see in the third attached image)

    Wordpress version: 6.3.1
    Kadence theme version: 1.1.44
    Kadence block plugin version: 3.1.19
    PHP: 8.0

    Thanks, Chito for your reply.
    Yes, it is but anything I put on there caused that. Even a simple image.

    https://fsantosdp.com/stills/

    I have a subdomain that has the same structure that works very well

    https://idirector.fsantosdp.com/

    If I copy the page that makes the content of this last link to another site that has the problem doesn’t work

    https://fsantosdp.com/testedirector/

    but the content of the bad page in this subdomain works well

    https://idirector.fsantosdp.com/teste/

    I tried exporting settings from the good page to the bad page but doesn’t work.

    Best,

    Fernando

    Hello

    just updated to version 1.1.44 and appearance > post/pages layout > Archive layout , can’t change font size, backgrounds … it saves but reverts to default state.

    Cleared browser/site caches to no avail. Happened on 3 sites now, thankfully backups made

    Thanks

    Andrew
