    Hi,

This is the page to acces all my portfolio: http://www.vivien-streit.ch/en/media/

    My settings:
    – static home page
    … for polylang:
    – The language is set from the directory name in permalinks
    – Delete /language/ in permalinks
    – The management of the languages and the translations for the media is desacivate

I also oppen a threat on the support forum of polylang: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/polylang-appears-to-break-link-to-portfolio?replies=4

Polylang is working on Portfolio links problems.

If i set the URL in polylang settings like this:
“The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks
    Example: http://intercopters.com/en/my-post/”

    Portfolio doesn’t work.

If I set the URL like this:
“The language is set from content
Posts, pages, categories and tags urls are not modified.”

Portafolio works BUT some STRINGS TRANSLATION done with Polylang doesn’t work in my home page.

Some people like me have the same problem.

Next version of Polylang will solves this.

    Thanks Ben

    Many thanks Ben

    It was that!!!

I changed settings in Polylang and portfolio works perfectly again.
    It was driving me crazy!!

There are three tabs in Polylang Setting. The last one is called “settings”
    Inside that tab, i uncheck:
    – Activate languages and translates for media…
    – Slider (activate languages for personalise…)

Sorry, i installed my wordpress in Spanish and i don’t know what the perfect translation is for this menus in polylang.

I hope it was helpful for people with the same problem

    Thanks Ben

I´m really glad with Virtue Theme Premium, and I’m thinking about update to Pinacle.

Hi Ben, thanks for the caution to tighten my language that this is not conflict in the sense that you state. While the Dokan plugin is certainly giving me some grief because it is different from the theme in terms of how it does things (the organization of it is illusive), most of my “bumbling” and frustration comes from my lack of understanding where to look (which files) the “issue” css might reside in. I do have to know what I’m addressing (e.g. where it resides) in order to address it and while I know enough css to be able to edit css when I must do so, I’m often at a loss in terms of knowing which plugin is creating my problem. Thanks again, B

    Q #1:
We would like to add language flags under the logo the way we currently have it here:

    Working site is

How do I “insert” those in the header?

    Q #2:
How do you change the color of the menu text when you are on the current page? Right now, it only changes color when hovering, but would want to change color when on a particular page.

    THANKS

    any solution to this?
    thxs.

    #37254

    Hey,
So that is a standard wordpress widget… Not a theme widget. A lot of those widgets have strings that allow you to translate the widget in the string translation options. It would be best to contact polylang support about translation the wordpress custom menu widget.

    WPML uses this method: https://wpml.org/2011/03/howto-display-different-widgets-per-language/

    So you can try that.

I installed POLYLANG on my website. Everything is working perfectly, almost everything!

It´s imposible to set a MENU in different language in the FOOT PAGE.

I´m gonna try to explain better.

In this kadence website there is a menu-widget call RESOURCES in the footpage.
    I create 2 MENUS: RESOURCE-en, and RESOURCE-es. But i can´t set them properly.
When i change the language, i can´t set a different menu in RESOUCES

I hope i explain myself more or less ok.

In the principal menu of my web, the menu changes from PRINCIPAL MENU-es to PRINCIPAL MENU-en properly.
I can´t configure this in the WIDGETS-MENUS of the footpage.

    Thanks in advance

    #37011

Polylang can be interesting. What is your permalink setting in the polylang settings?

I’m not seeing the place to change languages? might be because I can’t read Bulgarian… is it in your menu?

One workaround would be to place the slider shortcode into the shortcode option in the slider settings. so instead of selecting the revolution slider you select the cyclone/shortcode but you place the revolution slider shortcode into it.

Then you go into the string translation settings for the theme options in your polylang settings. You can there “translate” that box with the shortcode and add a different shortcode for a different slider in a different language.

I did disable the synchronization of the custom fields in the Polylang settings.
    Nothing happened!
The Revolution Slider is in home page under title and i translate and Duplicate it, but it won’t change between languages.

    Hello

Im using the Polylang Plugin and want to put the Language Switcher Widget in my Topbar at a certain position. Nice to have would be on the on the right side of the social media icons. Or at least even with the other buttons. This is my page: laybacktravel.com/

I tried using this css code: Wont work – but i dont really have a clue about css.

    .kad-topbar-right #language-switch {
    float: right;
    }

Can somebody help me? Appreciate it. Thanks

“There isn’t a Finnish translation.” LOL

No wonder no Finnish files on Language folder… *grin*. Okeey, I’ll roll-up.

    Thanks again, Ben!

    #36675

    1. You have to translate. There isn’t a Finnish translation.
    2. because you would have to make it.
    3. That is only for the theme options, not the right translation files. You don’t need to worry about those.
    4. Because that isn’t the right po file.
    5. same ^

You can certainly use po edit and translate the theme then upload to the /virtue_premium/languages folder.

    Ben

    #36673

    Oh dear, oh dear…

“1. You would need to translate the po files for the theme.”

I installed Loco Translate [henceforth LT] plugin. No problems. Then:

    1. There’s (still) no Finnish translation file in /virtue_premium/languages
    2. Even so, LT did find a one! How come? 😉
    3. Finally, I found it, too. It’s here:
    /wp-content/themes/virtue_premium/themeoptions/languages
    4. LT claims that Finnish language file is “100 %”, aka fully translated. But in that fi.po file (fi:Finnish) there’s no string like “Search Results for”.
    5. It seems impossible to add any strings in LT manually

I have done many localizations using Poedit without any hassle. What’s up here? :O

    [Woocommerce + Virtue Premium]

I burst into this: results, shown in Search page, is not translated (in Finnish).

I did some research on language files. If I got it right, then:

    – – –
    1. In WordPress there is no such phrase [“Search Results for”].

    2. In Woocommerce it IS translated, but not showing on page:
    Search results for “
    Hakutulokset “

    3. In Virtue Premium theme there’s no Finnish language file at all.
    – – –

Pretty strange, isn’t it. Especially this localized phrase in Woocommerce with no effect.

What would be the right/best solution? Ohh, and, how to generate quotation marks around the result: Search results for “some-search-word”.

How easy! Ok, is there a way to modyfy the “read more” to my language ? Same goes for a few other texts tags arround the site.

    Thanx,
    B.

    #35676

Translations are all in the languages files in the language folder… The po and mo files. You can use a plugin to change: https://wordpress.org/plugins/loco-translate/

    Hi,

    1) How do I make my blog posts appear like on i.e. with a square image to the left of the post text (currently they appear like this,

    2) Is there a shortcode I use to display the blog posts if I want to show the lastest posts on other pages than the frontpage?

    3) Does the shortcode work with WPML, so it only shows blog posts that matches the current WPML language?

    Thanks,
    Mads

    #35411

You can use the plugin the notice doesn’t stop it from working.

As for changing the language you need to make sure you have danish wordpress installed. https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language
