Thanks for the reply Dave.
I haven’t changed any of the theme files, all I’ve done is dragged and dropped some widgets using the theme .. options or customise page and then edited those widgets (eg the virtue text theme) in the options page. I didn’t think this counted as creating a new theme?
Unless I’m mistaken, I think something else is going on here.
In forum: Virtue ThemeI have changed woocommerce’s default to hide the add to cart. I think it’s more confusing than anything to arrive at a product page and not see a clear ending add to cart button. To me it makes it look like the product is unavailable.
Hi Ben,
I totally agree with you on this. It’s just the error message could be more concise. I’ll try to add a bug report to WooCommerce, maybe they’ll fix it.

Hi. Just uploaded the premium theme according to tutorial free to premium.
However, after importing the options into the premium theme my site looks different. The widgets I have added to pages and customisations to the footer are not preserved.
Do I have to re-create these? I’m not sure how much work I have to do after importing the options into premium.
Site http://www.ukcroupier.co.uk I reverted to the free theme until I know what I need to do.
Thanks
In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Breadcrumbs minor issue with qTranslate
The reason is get_post() by default returns raw values. Another option would be adding ‘display’ as 3rd argument in get_post():
$shop_page = get_post( $shop_page_id, OBJECT, 'display' );but since the rest of the kadence_breadcrumbs function uses get_the_blah_blah functions, it would be more consistent simply adding get_the_title().
Virtue is really awesome by the way… And the support also, thumbs up!
In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Woo Commerce advice.
Hi Guys. I have set up my store selling canvas prints. Each canvas has a different size and price. The problem I am having is when it comes to updating the price on all products, of which I have many. I obviously had to use variable products in setting this up, using size attributes then manually typing the price in for each size. How do I mass edit these prices across all products without having to go through each product individually. It seems by looking on the net that I need a separate plug in for this. Is woo commerce not capable of this as it is. I have looked at a couple of replies to some peoples similar problems to this on various different web pages but I seem to be getting conflicting answers. Could you please advise on the way forward.

Hi Ben and thanks for responding.
Yes – I should have explained more I suppose.
I was trying different things and my first thought was something like this
https://www.evernote.com/l/ABL8TK8Ek3JFv46d0Ipq3CAiQv8U8tnFlXBut when I try that the alignment is all appalling. I’ve put the page back to my attempt at that now but I don’t know how to align everything.

Appreciate it’s not your theme issue but just want some guidance on how to make this look the best.
thanks

Hi Ben
if you look at the site, you’ll see that I needed a logo complex with a ‘background’ photo statically positioned top right so that an overflow-hidden would progressively ‘lose’ the left hand side of the image as the browser narrows (so it couldn’t be a ‘real’ CSS background image). At the same time I needed to overlay the actual logo and the tagline on top of this image, so they ‘stuck’ to the left hand side of whatever ‘background’ image is left on resize. Basically, the background flows under the logo on browser resize.
If that is confusing, look at the logo area full browser width, and then resize the browser window down to phone size.
I can’t imagine that there is a mass-market appeal for this trickery!
While you are there, take a look at the auto asymmetric resizing of the ‘underline’ to the page heading. Another bit of CSS I’m quietly proud of! The bedroom sub-pages show it best.
Cheers, Colin

Update. Here is what I received from my current web host. I’m not sure I believe what they are saying — that W3 TC slows web sites down. What do you think?
***************
I have verified that the plugin is working. You can look at pingdom and see all the minify.php requests instead of direct java script. Like we said earlier this plugin tends to slow down peoples websites and not improve the speed.
When the plugin is enabled – http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bSdBxy/http://kamadoworks.com/
Load time 2.37 seconds and 53 requests. When the plugin is disabled – http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/d5LOQD/http://kamadoworks.com/
Load time 2.10 seconds and 76 requests. There are a few “real ways” to speed up your website and these cache plugins tend to do more harm than good.
– Move your web hosting to a dedicated cloud server with solid state drives
– Setup a real cdn that will deliver your static content (pictures, javascript, css, etc) https://www.totalserversolutions.com/CDN.php
– Disable any features that are enabled in word press that your website does not need or use.
– Disable extra plugins that are not required
– Optimize your website by compressing images and reducing file sizes.I would highly recommend our CDN as thats the best and easiest way to speed up your website. Please visit our cdn page to learn more about a content delivery network.

March 7, 2015 at 7:17 pm #33397Hey,
If you want the icons above to be in two rows you can use pagebuilder to create columns. I’m not sure what you trying to do though? Can you tell me what your going for? Right now I see that your first row has 4 columns and you have content in the first two?Ben

Ben,
You are the best. I have turned Minify and Database caching on. My experience is that page load time really suffers when they are turned on — it will be great to hear what you see.
I have sent a Ticket to our web host (TSS, formerly Hands-On Web Hosting). I will update this when I hear back from them.

March 7, 2015 at 6:59 pm #33387Some things to note, some servers work well with database and object caching, others don’t testing with those on and off is a good idea.
1. http://gtmetrix.com/reports/kamadoworks.com/8vkRlP5e
I’m seeing things missing that should be there from w3 total cache, like expired header, page caching and fewer HTTP requests. It’s now showing that those are happening? If you have it on you might want to contact your host about there support of these things.2. Based on the location that you run pingdom from it can make a huge difference. Make sure you test from the same location that most of your audience will be viewing from.
http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/eVgsH/http://kamadoworks.com/
Basically your caching doesn’t seem to be working, and you don’t have your files minified. Can you turn minify on so I can see?
3. Odd.. not sure why that would be. if your sure it’s there and copied like it’s supposed to be then you should be fine.
4. ? What SEO extension?
always remember the most important thing about page speed is your loading time, not what grade you get it’s only to be helpful but it’s very possible to have a great grade and still have a really slow site.

In forum: Virtue ThemeMarch 7, 2015 at 6:39 pm #33386It’s a woocommerce error string, and it is translated using a woocommerce text domain. you can change to whatever you like but it’s not going to be dynamic and pull product specific variation information. See function here: https://github.com/woothemes/woocommerce/blob/master/includes/class-wc-form-handler.php line 601.
I have changed woocommerce’s default to hide the add to cart. I think it’s more confusing than anything to arrive at a product page and not see a clear ending add to cart button. To me it makes it look like the product is unavailable.
I realize that others think differently about this and I’ve created a child theme that removes my edit so if you would like that just send me an email:Ben

March 7, 2015 at 6:20 pm #33384Hmm, yeah I updated to give the pagebuilder better support for fullwidth so now that classes assumes it’s a pagebuilder class so it works with another pagebuilder class… gonna have to rethink this.
I think I’ll just add a new class for none pagebuilder users and then update. Regardless for right now you can add this in a footer textwidget and make your site work again.
<script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function ($) { function kad_custom_fullwidth_panel() { $('.kt-panel-row-full-stretch').each(function(){ var margins = $(window).width() - $(this).parents('#content').width(); $(this).css({'margin-left': '-' + margins/2 + 'px'}); $(this).css({'margin-right': '-' + margins/2 + 'px'}); $(this).css({'width': + $(window).width() + 'px'}); $(this).css({'visibility': 'visible'}); }); } kad_custom_fullwidth_panel(); $(window).on("debouncedresize", function( event ) {kad_custom_fullwidth_panel();}); }); </script>I think in the future I’ll add a class called “kt-custom-row-full-stretch” which will support non pagebuilder.
