Topic: Nested links in menu
Hey guys,
We have a nested menu that goes down two levels from the main horizontal navigation bar.
For example: Products –> Accessories –>Big Grill, Small Grill, Pizza Stone, Charcoal, Spices, Rubs, Sauces, etc.
I think I have three options:
1. Use a nested menu in Virtue, which allows our user to link to the desired product from the main menu. Nest menus can be ugly.
2. Do not use a nested menu, and create a Page which gives a brief description of each accessory and a link to each accessory’s page. That requires two links for our user to get to the page.
3. Figure out how to do a more complicated rollover CSS dropdown menu, similar to what Amazon does, where each link is available in the dropdown menu.Which one would you guys recommend?
Is there an easy way of doing a dropdown menu with Virtue Premium?Thanks!
In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Slideshows not working
Hello,
I started working with your theme, and liking it thus far, however I encountered some problem. I tried cyclone slider, that didn’t work. Then I tried Kadence, also not working. So now I suspect something weird is going on. I get no JS errors though. I made a test page with them both here. Could you please take a look? I’m on wordpress 4.1.
Thanks in advance!

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Blog Icon – Remove
Dear folks,
I would like to remove the pencil icon in the blog posts.
So, I did my research before posting this question. Alas. They are not working.
(I may have written about this but have not seen a response, so…)I would like to remove them entirely or apply a custom image.
*Login to see link
This is expressly for the Latest Posts Widgets in the sidebarWorkarounds:
– Theme Options – Blog – I entered in my default image if there was not featured image. Saved. Nothing.
– I entered in a featured images for the top three posts (that show up on the website). Saved. Nothing.
– I placed an RSS widget in the sidebar as an alternative – it does not offer the pencil icon. BUT now the Word “News” no longer links to the blog, so folks are limited to what shows up on the Home Page.The Latest Post widget is actually built for what I want to do – so I’m guessing that once I remove the Pencil icon, I will use that widget exclusively and remove the RSS option.
I’m almost there.
Please help.
Thanks,

February 17, 2015 at 11:46 am #31491Hey,
1. 162.2 kB for the icon file. It’s not large enough that you would see or should see a difference in loading time. Not like you would if you used one of the many other options. it’s very much possible to remove or replace but I would hold off on that and focus on the real issues.To give you an example, this is the demo site: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/dJchG/http://themes.kadencethemes.com/pinnacle-demo-content/
See that the total size is larger then your site. and yet it loads way way faster.
2. Use the “page title” option. In the theme options > home slider. Choose “page title” and you set a background image and text. No slider needed.
3. admin ajax is quite normal and part of wordpress. no way around not loading that. I don’t see or know what you mean by http://arcticcampers.no/page/2/ my only guess is you had infinite scroll on?
Some notes about speed. Looking at this test for example: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bDCFI4/http://arcticcampers.no/
1. There can not be enough said about a good server. If you are wanting a professional site with professional speed you have to use a professional server. You do really get what you pay for.
2. Like bjarne mentioned caching is a great tool and I personally recommend using w3 total cache plugin. Easy to control and adds in your minify options (number 3).
3. Minify your css and js. Assuming your not using a plugin that can’t handle this it’s a great option and w3 total cache can build for you.
4. Don’t load plugins your not using. For example if you aren’t using cyclone slider then deactivate.
5. I like EWWW Image Optimizer over smushit.
6. In all my testing i’ve never found cloudflare to be helpful unless your on an extremely slow server. But others have so I won’t not recommend it I would just say do the testing.
In forum: Virtue ThemeFebruary 17, 2015 at 11:40 am #314901. No, doesn’t work like that. Post a login and I’ll take a look.
2. That code is only for the blog page. If you want if for all the archive pages use this:
.main.single-article.fullpost article { max-width: 600px; margin: 0 auto; }Ben

February 17, 2015 at 11:07 am #31486Oh, yeah changing your screen size and testing on mobile are two different things. The code that loads the mobile or desktop slider checks if your using a mobile browser. It has nothing to do with screen size. The sliders are not meant to “switch” by screen size. It’s about loading and the mobile will load on mobile phones and never load the desktop.
For an emulated example use the chrome browser. right click on the screen and click inspect.
In the new panel on the top right you will see a little mobile icon. Click that choose the device and refresh the page.Ben
In forum: Virtue ThemeThanks Ben! Those all worked a treat. The only one I can’t figure out still is that the sidebar for the posts pages is not showing up. I have it set to the sidebar format, with the same side bar selected as the one for the blog page. If I had turned off the widgets, then wouldn’t they not show up on both the blog page and post pages, sidebars? I’m sure I’ve missed something… http://liesellund.com/blog/peace-bliss-and-lots-of-paint/
}
#ktmain.single-article.fullpost article {
max-width: 600px;
margin: 0 auto;
}
The above works great on the blog page, but doesn’t seem to affect archived posts… I wonder if this is all part of the same issue?
Thanks for all your help!

February 17, 2015 at 10:33 am #31474Hey,
So I don’t see the css in your custom css box? But it should turn off the parallax specifically for your samsung tablet. You can also try this css too:@media (max-device-width: 800px) { .kad-slider-parallax .kad-slider .kad-slide { background-attachment: scroll!important; background-position: center!important; } .kad-slider-parallax .kad-slider .caption-case-inner { opacity: 1 !important; } } @media (max-device-width: 1280px) { .kad-slider-parallax .kad-slider .kad-slide { background-attachment: scroll!important; background-position: center!important; } .kad-slider-parallax .kad-slider .caption-case-inner { opacity: 1 !important; } }It appears that the homepage slider is not changing to the mobile slider on any the phones I have tested so far
What phones. I am testing on an iphone and using an emulater for about every phone possible. They all switch?

Hi,
In settings > reading you can choose to set your home page as a static page (which I think you have already done). Then you can go to Pages from your admin area and add whatever content you’d like. Pagebuilder is a great tool. Just make sure you have page content enabled in the homepage layout manager in theme options > home layout. Check out this tutorial- https://www.kadencewp.com/creating-a-home-page-with-virtue/ and this one- https://www.kadencewp.com/using-page-builder-virtue-premium/Not sure if you’re referring these titles, but paste this in your custom css box in theme options and let me know if that works for you.
.product_item .product_details h5 { text-decoration: underline; }Hannah

In forum: Pinnacle ThemeIn reply to: Home loads extremly slow
Hi Henning,
I’m also a user of the Pinnacle Premium theme keeping an eye on performance. Actually, I think performance of Pinnacle is rather good when keeping all the features in mind.
I have testet your site as well as my development site on http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ and http://gtmetrix.com/ and its not that bad. I have a few easy tips:
1) Once DONE with the development, its worthwhile to consider caching static resources. On a linux webserver, it can be done adding something like this to the .htaccess file:
## EXPIRES CACHING ## <IfModule mod_expires.c> ExpiresActive On ExpiresByType image/jpg "access 1 month" ExpiresByType image/jpeg "access 1 month" ExpiresByType image/gif "access 1 month" ExpiresByType image/png "access 1 month" ExpiresByType text/css "access 1 month" ExpiresByType application/pdf "access 1 month" ExpiresByType text/x-javascript "access 1 month" ExpiresByType application/x-shockwave-flash "access 1 month" ExpiresByType image/x-icon "access 1 month" ExpiresDefault "access 1 week" </IfModule> ## EXPIRES CACHING ## # Etag settings Header unset ETag FileETag None2) The WP SmushIt plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/ can help you reduce the size of images uploaded.
3) You can setup a free CloudFlare Content Delivery Network account in 15 minutes or so. Check https://www.cloudflare.com/
I guess I would be able to achieve a A or B rating on YSlow and Google Pagespeed with Pinnacle using these small tricks.
That said, the kt-icon.woff is one of the largest files served. Maybe there is a way to tweak that?
Best regards,
BjarneIn forum: Pinnacle ThemeTopic: Home loads extremly slow
Hei, our website is extremly slow, we would like to reduce some stuff that your theme is loading. Could you help?
1. How to delete the icon font, we are just using 7 but it is loading over 500.
2. How can we avoid a slider if we just have one big image in the header to load?
3. Something on our home side always want to load *Login to see link & *Login to see link for no reason.Thanks for your help!
H.In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Custom Homepage issues
Hi there Ben,
I made some changes to my website, and made my shoppage to a menu title instead. So now my homepage and shoppage isn’t the same page.
Will this allow me to customize my homepage some more? At the moment I can’t do anything else than adding some carousels that shows most sold and what not. I’d like to include stuff above to carousels that I have on my frontpage. I’m thinking about using the custom code for tabs you made and put some static pictures as well. Is this possible?and also, how do I add a black line the length of about 10px underneath the titles for the best selling products and so on. Just make it a random color, and I’ll change that later if easier.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Remove white border
I will need to do the same on the white section below this, titled “Our approach”.
I was thinking maybe I could create a jpeg with an image on half the page and a white section on the other, and set it as a background on page builder but it doesnt really work well.
In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Remove white border
This might be a bit tough to explain, but I’ll give it a try.
My website url is: *Login to see link
I’m trying to remove the side border on the image. If you look on my homepage, under the homepage slider, you can see the section which is titled “What we do”. I want to remove the white border on the left hand side.
How can I achieve this?
Thank you
SteveIn forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: tablet homepage slider problems
Hi Ben,
I’m getting confused by all this.
The code above didn’t work so I have just turned off the parallax for good and the slider in the tablet is at least stable now. (I am seeing the non-mobile slider on the tablet now which is fine)
However, I’ve just tested my site on several sites for screen compatibility and it appears that the homepage slider is not changing to the mobile slider on any the phones I have tested so far. The kadence slider is coming up rather than the flex mobile slider. By the way, the mobile slider is working because it is coming up on my nokia lumia
