    Hello,
    1. This tutorial explains how it’s done: https://www.kadencewp.com/add-icons-to-your-menu-virtue-theme/

    2. Have you created a portfolio page with a portfolio grid template? The settings you’re looking for are all part of what the portfolio already does. This tutorial should help you out- https://www.kadencewp.com/creating-a-portfolio-page-with-virtue/

    3. In appearance > menus select the topbar menu and remove it from topbar navigation. I think that’s where it’s coming from.

    Hope that helps!

At the moment I rather not share the website. It’s locked for visitors as it’s far from done. If it’s too hard to make without seeing the actuall website, we’ll work something out.

    1. I was thinking something like a thin black line that goes horizontal ontop and underneath the menus in the primary menu. In the primary menu I got 3 menus so don’t make the line go too far if you know what I mean. I’m using Wide Site Layout Style and half of the page goes to the logo. So the primary menu is placed neatly in the top right corner. This is just to get the idea in your head but perhaps it’s just impossible without seeing it.. And one more thing, can you make it fade in the ends?

    2. I’m happy with the original size provided by the theme for the icon named icon-home which I’m using in the secondary menu. I just need it on the left side of the text instead of on top it. The last icon I need changed is icon-envelope2 which I’m using in the primary menu. Same problem with this icon, would prefer to have it on the left.

Question 2 could be solved if only the plugin “Menu Icons” would function probably. It wont show the icons on my menus, but only in the dropdowns which is odd. I don’t know if this is a theme problem or not.

If you can’t help me without seeing the page, let me know and I’ll arrange something. I just couldn’t seem to PM you.

    Hey,
    1. On portfolio posts and on blog posts you can set the width and height in the post settings. If you want a certain aspect ratio then make sure the width and height match that aspect ratio.

You can then use css to force the images to stay within a certain size but you can’t use the theme image sizing as the css. That crops and it will hardcrop if you are using those settings.

But for example if you place the image in the portfolio images. Then make your project type list 2 then it won’t crop your image height.

You can also always add your image right in to the page.

I’m new to wordpress so I’m still learning the ropes please bare with me here.

    I have some basic questions…

1.) Menu question//// how do you apply custom images/icons to your primary and secondary menu bars as is displayed in your demo sites? I’ve scoured every tab in the dashboard and haven’t found a way to upload an image. I want to design my own custom home/portfoilio/ etc icons and use them a menu buttons.

2.) portfolio image question//// how do you get your image grids to link to the images attachment page instead of the light box… I have set up my portfolio to be displayed in a masonry style format which i like but when I click on the images them selves they get displayed in the lightbox… I want to be able to click on an image an go to a page that shows the image and it’s stats like description/ what programs they were made in/ and other details. I would also like to be able to adjust its size in tho view also and possibly and a slider to some images in this view.

3.) topbar question/// for some reason on my top bar there are some link buttons that I didn’t apply to it.. they are two “buy here” buttons that when clicked jump to the kandence theme page on your site… how do I git rid of these buttons. I tried looking in the themes option/topbar menu but it’s very limited in what I can adjust and I looked everywhere else in the dashboard but no luck.

I’m using mamp to build this site so i don’t think I can let you see the site/code unless you know of another way I can let you view it without the site being connected to the net yet. Please let me know if you can help with these questions. thanks

When creating a page, just set the template to “Contact” and that should do it. There’s already implemented a contact template for the premium version of Virtue.

Thanks Hannah and Ben for the quick replies.

I have done what you suggested and now the product images are displaying fully:)

However, I want all images on all pages to display fully (soft crop) within a max height and width. When I make a portfolio post with the same image, for example, it looks like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3bkh3qqrz7h59h4/Screenshot%202015-01-07%2017.52.58.png?dl=0

When I insert the same image into a blog post it looks like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ltl6fv3l3uz8hau/Screenshot%202015-01-07%2018.19.02.png?dl=0

I would appreciate your help with the following point:

How can I set the images to soft crop in blog posts and portfolio posts?

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Hi Ben,

thankyou for your reply. 🙂 I will try to clarify my questions a bit more for you.

    1. in the settings in the theme ‘shop’ it has how many ‘products’ to show per page, i have it set to show 10 properties per page. Before it would scroll down and show next page buttons, now when you scroll down it tries to load more properties and doesn’t show all of my products, if you scroll to the bottom as far as it will let you it will cut the last image in half.

    2. My apologies, i thought the idea of a shop filter was to filter the products that the shop offers, i didn’t realise it would only filter the products on each page. So the only way the filter works with all products is if they are all loaded on one single page? (sorry, i may just have misunderstood) – its a great feature. 🙂

    3. There was a dropdown list, but i have been able to remove it. It had options like ‘list by alphabetical order’ or ‘price low to high’. My question was, does that work just on the page or on all of the shop products? and b, can i take out some of the options like ‘price low to high’ will not work with my site because it is woocommerce and booking system pro combined so works slightly differently to the traditional woocommerce plugin. 🙂

    4. what would you suggest good size (dimensions) etc would be good for websites, i am using smushit already with the site, w3 total cache and cloudflare. if you can recommend good sizes or recommendations for this i would be really grateful.

I am using pingdom and google test for my site, ive been working on it for weeks to try and get it faster, (unfortunately i am definitely new at this)

my apologies, i forgot to wish you a happy new year. 🙂

    Thanks for your quick response.

    Kind regards

    Katie

    Hi,
we started our new website: http://www.kathan-ergonomie.de
The dropdown menu on the mobile view not displayed? How can I fix it.
I also tried the “mobile navigation” in the appearance > menus pages. It doesn´t work!
    Any Idea?

    The second question:
Is it necessary to post the copyright/usage of the virtue theme in the about us or any other sub sites?
    Thank you for your answers,

    David

    Hi Guys,
I have an info box which I like, however I would like to insert in the middle of the text a “read more” that links to my FAQ page.

I would like to insert the following html code but I am not sure where.

I tried to “switch to editor” and insert the following, but it did not work

Note that the code above works well in a visual editor widget.

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hey,
    1. I’m not sure what you mean? Or what the question is?
    2. If your talking about the filter it’s not like a menu, it is only supposed to filter what is on the page not what is on your whole site.
    3. What dropdown list are you referring too?
    4. Pageload, your loading really large images (not optimized for web) Looks like you could really save time if you sized images in your slider and on your home page. Like this one for example: http://www.cyprusonlineholidays.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/sea-turtle-547163.jpg the dimensions are fine but the image size is large, if you compressed it would really help.

This is a great tool: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/c2vRue/http://www.cyprusonlineholidays.com/

and I highly recommend using w3 total cache.

    Hello,
Try disabling the Product Image Aspect Ratio on Catalog pages. You can do this in theme options > shop settings under Product Image Sizes.
    Hope that works for you!

    Hi Hannah,
This makes things work on all the pages except the homepage, where it’s cropping part of the secondary menu…

    Hi there,

thankyou for an amazing template, its definitely one of the easiest i have found.

I have a couple of problems, (may be me entirely) but I wondered if you would be able to help:

    – i am using woocommerce and on the shop page i have set it to 10 properties and it continues to show them and cut off.
    – Before (a couple of weeks ago) i had it working with the categories which were perfect but they only categorized the page you were on – say the shop has 10 pages all with different products and i click bags of sugar (i have rental properties but this is easier) it will only show me the bags of sugar on the page i am viewing.
    – how can i take off or edit the drop down list, since my properties work slightly differently with woo-commerce plugin a lot of the options do not apply to me.

    my site is

    Thankyou for your help. 🙂

Thanks for the speedy response Hannah.

It’s the newest version of WP – just updated this morning. I kind of thought the theme hadn’t had an update in a long time and was surprised by how old it is when I had a look.

I know how to install from the account page with the zip file, but my question is still whether or not that will erase all of my theme settings. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Greg

Hey, what version of wordpress are you using? You should see the themes update in the dashboard.
To update you can go to the my account page https://www.kadencewp.com/my-account/ download the latest version (2.7.8) and manually update through appearance > themes.
