In reply to: Home Page Title

    #26493

    Hello Hannah,

in “Theme Options…Home Slider” I’m using “Page Title” as Slider. Under “Home Page Title” I deleted the default “Welcome to [site-name]” and typed in what I wanted to show. The field for “Home Page SubTitle” I left blank. That’s what I did. Thanks for taking care!

    Hello,

I am actually using the page builder with the visual editor widget. I made 2 columns with a background color. Actually the box size is adapted to the text size but I would like all the boxes to be exactly the same height. Is there any solution to do so ?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello there,

the Home Page Title is by default “Welcome to [site-name]“. I changed it to plain text and it works with all browsers on Windows and IOS. It’s a normal “<h1 class=”kad-page-title home-page-title”>Websites richtig planen</h1>” On my Android 4.2 phone though it doesn’t work. Not with Chrome nor with the regular preinstalled browser. What I get there is exactly the result of the shortcodes “Welcome to [site-name]” plus “[site-tagline]”. What do I have to do now? Can anyone tell me, please? If you want to check:

After the first page of items, my shopping cart is repeating itself. The categories are even repeating. I’ve read this pay be a permalink issue? I have gone to settings -> permalink and tried both saving the current settings to update, and selecting new ones. But, that did not seem to have an effect.

    I run PageSpeed Insights

    for

and received the following recommendations as a main priority. I don’t have a clue what it is but 2 of them are from wpengine.
    !Should Fix:
Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
Your page has 4 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.
Optimize CSS Delivery of the following:

I contacted WPEngine about this issue and received the following respond that claims that theme itself built in the wrong way.
    Hi Nadejda,
Thanks for contacting WP Engine. To provide some more info for you, what Google means when they talk about “render-blocking Javascript and CSS” is essentially excessive calls to css and js in the header of the document. Best practice dictates that (with a few exceptions) javascript should be loaded in the footer rather than the header, so that it doesn’t keep the page from rendering while it loads. There are things you can do — see if there are calls to JS in the header of your theme and consider moving things to the footer.
Unfortunately many plugins by default load assets in the header, and there’s not much to be done about that at this point. There are plugins that claim to help, but in my experience they’re largely out of date and therefore I wouldn’t suggest them.

The CDN is being registered as the paths causing this issues, but it is actually because the CDN is caching the js and css. So rather than a CDN issue, it is because of the theme files themselves.
Please help to solve this problem.
    Thank you!

    Thank you Ben!
I followed your direction and customized css but I am not happy how page looks now. I need only title, nothing elxe

    Please advise.
Also, I need to customize padding in menu bar – make it at minimum. This will help me to make menu narrower.
    Thank you!

Ben Thanks for your help. Under a deadline today – went back to old pagebuilder. Will update both tomorrow.

Each image on this page: http://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium-2/portfolio-category-grid/ is a portfolio type.

    1. You go to portfolio types add a type and make sure the type has an image.
    2. Then you MUST assign portfolio items to that type. If the type is empty it won’t work.

And If you’ve got that can you try adding this css in your theme options custom css box.

    #portfoliowrapper .kad_portfolio_fade_in {
    opacity: 1;
    }

Ok I think my problem is the pagebuilder update. Didn’t mean to post on someone else’s thread but I thought I had the same problem. Should have looked farther on forum.

Ben thank you for posting this.

It’s not an issue with virtue premium, with the latest pagebuilder update some people have been reporting that there content isn’t updating to the new pagebuilder. You can activate a different theme and you would still have the issue. It seems that there are some plugins that are causing this but I haven’t yet been able to figure out which ones because I haven’t had the issue.

My recommendation would be to change back to the previous version of pagebuilder. You can download 1.5.4 here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/siteorigin-panels/developers/

Then remove the version on your wordpress and install the older version. That will give you your layout control back.

    Hey,
I am having a similar problem with a new page I was working on. I don’t use a caching plugin. Lots of things not working right after updating the following:
    WordPress – 4.1
    TinyMCE Advanced – 4.1.7
    Page Builder by SiteOrigin -2.0.3
Updates don’t save, Photos aren’t formatting correctly in posts. Weird stuff and I wouldn’t think these updates would cause this. Help?

    Ben,

Sweet potatoes, that worked for the Blog Excerpt images. (See here)

Can this also be accomplished for the Home Page Blog Excerpts which through Firebug report a size of 270 by 270 but are still showing the wrong thumb?
    (See Here)

Would it be just another custom function in the child theme like above incorporating 270?

    #26433

    Thank you Ben!
    1. On top of image or below – doesn’t matter. How I can put excerpt below – please advise.
    2. In Yoast page check there is a red light that keyword is not in the title but it is there. So, I am confident that Yoast doesn’t see the title in grid page. I will use your advice and ignore red lights.
Thank you again! Happy New Year!
    Yours,

    Hi Ben,

Yes I have added images to the Post Type. Do you have documentation regarding setting up a Post Category Grid? For example, if the Main Portfolio page is suppose to be a Category Grid, do I need to create it as a Portfolio type? I created both a Portfolio type and a Page. Neither one seems to work. Exactly how do I go about creating this page? http://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium-2/portfolio-category-grid/ I had purchased the premium, but I’m spent hours trying to get the portfolio category grid to work and I can’t find documentation on how to set it up. Only what it should look like. Please advise. Thank you.

I am trying to develop a site similar to

    I am using Virtue Premium.

How can I use a single background image like this site and have the content/widget areas overlay?

Is there a way to space out the content and widget areas like this?

    Thanks!

    Hi Ben,

Is there are option to make the images in the slider the link. So, users can just click the image to go to the linked page? From what I can see I need to used a button to link? Do I need to use a different slider?

    Thanks,
    Shaun.

    #26421

    Hey,
    So two things.
    1. The category filter is only designed to filter what is on the page. It was only created for small shops or categories where there are only one page of items. It’s not an ajax filter that re-queries the site and shows all the a category. This theme supports a filer like that but it’s in a plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/yith-woocommerce-ajax-navigation/

    2. The pagination is a wordpress issues as of wordpress 4.0 it only effects if your permalinks are set on default. If you do into the settings > permalinks and set to “post title” then you won’t have the problem.

This is only reported to wordpress and should be fixed in there next version.

    Ben

    Hello,

I have a new question, I really like your themes, but I have the following problem :

When I create categories and activate the category filter in the shop page parameters, the buttons on the top of the page are not displaying the correct products.
I also found out that the second page button is corrupted.

Please check the link below :

Thanks for your answer and happy new year in advance.

    Ah, OK,
    I wasn’t aware of this.
I prefer to create templates inside my own’s plugin folder. I am not such a fan of child themes.
