Hi,

We have a couple of scenarios where we may need to add custom layout or global items.

1. If we want to create a highly customised header or footer which is outside the built in capabilities of the theme.

2. If we want to add our own specialised global items (such as share, rate, etc) globally to specific pages after content.

Question 1
In the above scenarios I assume we can insert some content via a function. Are there hooks for these things or is there a better way that I’m missing?

Question 2
Is there an obvious way to make it configurable in backend to display on certain pages

Question 3
Are we able to integrate it with a specific edible block of content in settings somewhere or would we need to create our own settings/posts area for it?

Sorry if the questions are a little broad, I’m just preparing for future sites with Ascend and I’m a total newbie with it.

This question is about the sidebar.

On this page, I have a sidebar in use: *Login to see link

But the sidebar takes valuable page space away from the images displayed in the Virtue Gallery at the top of the page. I would like the sidebar to start AFTER the Virtue Gallery, is that possible? That way, the images in the Virtue Gallery will still show as full width, while the Sidebar content displays below.

Now a question about page loading speed. Does adding animation to the sidebar items decrease page loading speed? It’s cute that each separate item in the sidebar loads from the right over a few milliseconds, but I’m wondering if will hinder my page loading speeds, which are already abysmally low.

Just noticed an update available for the Kadence theme. I checked the “View version 0.8.0 details” link to see what was new – only to discover it takes me to a basic Kadence theme page on the store.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for these tips. I was able to do #1, #2, and #4. I won’t put the desktop menu on ipads, as you don’t recommend that.

About the special css for #2, I noticed that there is similar special css already in my Advanced Settings. I hope that this various css is not interfering with each other, please take a look.

I increased the size of the Primary Menu font to 22, because I want it to be a bit bigger and more visible. I’m not very happy with the rounded Lato font there, which is good for text but not great as the Primary menu font. I was thinking about a font in all caps, but don’t know how to set the font to all caps, that is not an option in Theme Options>Menu Settings.

Also, there is still one spacing issue.

Between approximately 1000px and 1100px, one menu item jumps to a second line. When this happens, it interferes with the Virtual Gallery at the top of each page, and creates other problems. I really need the Primary menu to just stay on one line. Below 1000px, the menu font size decreases appropriately, so that all menu text reverts back to one line as it should. Is there a way that we can guarantee that the primary menu items always stay on one line, by either scrunching them closer together or decreasing their font size automatically? As someone’s device screen increases in size, both the font size and the padding between items should gradually increase at a proportionate rate in order to be aesthetically pleasing. For example, at screen size 1200px, the font should be 22px with a spacing of say, 15px padding between items. When the screen size decreases, these numbers gradually go down. Padding of less than 10px between menu items makes them look too bunched together.

Hey,
This usually means your site has loading issue and it wasn’t able to load all your css. If you link to your site or the test you can see if the results say items were not able to be installed.

The best fix is to make your site faster (usually better hosting or caching plugin) so that it loads in time for google mobile page speed to capture all the styles and scripts.

I’m seeing the same fatal error on Appearance->Menus on two blogs using the Ascend Premium theme.

We use Wocoommerce and WP Fusion. WP Fusion has this – https://wpfusion.com/documentation/page-builders/gutenberg/ – so I think I can make it work with that, but would be great to be able to control it via Kadence Row Settings.

Hey,
WordPress doesn’t have an author page that shows Biographical Info, the author page that WordPress generates is supposed to show their posts. For something like a bio you would need to create a custom page where you add in your own content. You can then add a redirect if you want that to override the author bio pages.

I’ve had an issue with the latest upgrades since 0.7.13 and so am still running 0.7.11. I hoped subsequent updates would fix the issue.
I checked the forum and found it curious that no one else has reported this.

I’ve attached images showing what I mean.

Before there was a gap between the page header and where the content started. Since 0.7.13 there is no gap and the header and page content are right up against each other. Is this something that was done ‘on purpose’? I checked the release notes and it doesn’t seem to mention this ‘feature’ .

This change affects all the pages, blog, post, archive pages, front page.
I have found the setting to add back in the spacing to how it was before. But I didn’t want to add it in only to find it was fixed in a subsequent release. And then have to change my settings again.
Is this change permanent. If this was done on purpose then fine.
Its a bit disconcerting to have such a visual change.

The Portugal page works as expected, it’s been fine for a few years.

I have not installed the Kadence Block Pro as it was never needed before – is that a new requirement?

I don’t believe there is any way to name rows to improve organization and navigation (quick editing) of long page layouts. Can this be added as a feature request? It would have no bearing on the front-end of the website, only being used by the blocks. (The example I show is *not* yet a long page… but it’s still growing and getting less and less efficient to navigate for editing.)
