Topic: Nested Blocks
I’m starting to look at the new Gutenberg block editor. (Ok, I tend to wait for the dust to settle). I’m running WordPress 5.2.3. I also have Kadence Pro Blocks and am a premium member. I have been using the SiteOrigin PageBuilder for quite some time. Actually I haven’t made changes for a couple of years now. On my home page I have a sets of rows. The second row setting is with 2 columns and within each column are 4 rows, hence something that looks like a 2×4 table, in which are SiteOrigin Hero boxes. (The “SiteOrigin Hero” looks a lot like the new “Image Overlay Block” in your Kadence Pro Blocks plugin. Although I admit the Image Overlay Block seems quite a bit easier to use.) What I want to do is imitate my home page using Blocks. How can I get a “2×4 table”, in which I put an Image Overlay block in each cell? I didn’t see where I could nest blocks easily, which it seems based on my current layout, is what I need, unless there is some other way to do it.
I’ve attached a screenshot of my home page which was built using SiteOrigin Pagebuilder.
If you want to see the layout and images I’m talking about see: http://www.cagesplus.com and scroll down a bit.
Thanks. /Bob DeCloss
In forum: Virtue ThemeSeptember 20, 2019 at 9:31 am #237816Your image shows that you are adding the title twice. Once in the title box and once directly below in the content. You should only be adding the title to your page once.
What specific issues are you having with WCAG 2.1 guidelines?

Hi Travis,
Are you wanting to shrink the title space or remove it altogether?
This css would shrink:.single-portfolio .titleclass .page-header { height: 100px; }And this would remove:
.single-portfolio .titleclass .page-header { display: none; }And this css would remove the page header spacing:
.single-portfolio div#pageheader { display: none; }Hope that helps!

In forum: Virtue ThemeHello again,
I am still working on this site. Now I am wondering how could I separate the title and subhead of the post excerpts in the home page shortcode. The slug and title seem to appear twice on the posting. I attach an image that hopefully will explain this better.
Another thing that came up, is the client are following the latest WCAG 2.1 guidelines and there might be problems with the theme… Have you encountered this problem before? 🙁 This is a totally new thing to me.
Thanks in advance,
regards
UllaIn forum: Virtue ThemeHi
I’d like to reduce the vertical space between my mobile menu and the page content.
Currently there’s a header image on each page (images inside a siteorigin RT editor widget)
I’d like the top of the images to be flush with the bottom of the mobile menu strip. In forum: Ascend ThemeTopic: Footer problem
September 20, 2019 at 1:10 am #237786Hi,
I am experiencing problems with my footer at http://www.veggievagabonds.com
Firstly, I am trying to enter coding for Amazon Onelink via the theme options>header and footer scripts, however having spoken with Amazon the full script isn’t showing and the code isn’t working.
Secondly, I have made a new footer through Elementor, however when I publish it the header is disappearing (not made through Elementor) and it is also changing the page background colour from white to grey.
To note, the footer which is currently displayed is the one made through theme options, I have changed the Elementor one to a draft.
Could this be a problem with the footer, rather than two individual issues?

Never mind. Apparently we had the Home Page Layout setting set to sidebar. In the previous version this was overidden by the setting of fullwidth for the template.
I have changed the setting in the Home Page Layout settings and it fixed the issue.
Thanks
Jeremy

September 19, 2019 at 5:01 pm #237768Why would you have that widget if it just mucks everything up?
That isn’t our widget, it’s part of the widget plugin you have installed on your site from site origin. And it’s a very powerful widget if you set it up. But you can’t just throw it into a page without understanding it.
It’s not the blog post template, you just can’t add that widget without setting it up properly regardless of what page template you place it in.
Yes, a blog template outputs plugin posts, check out the docs here: http://docs.kadencethemes.com/ascend-premium/templates/blog-page-template/
There are 5 built-in ways to output your blog posts using the template.
If you want something else I suggest posting here with what you want and perhaps I can point you in the right direction.
The “post loop widget” doesn’t add any more “interesting” outputs. It uses theme structure, gives you a unique way to control it.

September 19, 2019 at 4:56 pm #237764I had no idea what that widget does, which is why I added it – to see what it looks like. Why would you have that widget if it just mucks everything up? But I guess that would only muck things up if it ‘weren’t’ a blog post template?
So I guess the part I missed is that if you are using a blog post template, the posts will come in automatically. What happens if I want to try some of the more interesting post widgets? Should I make the page a normal template?
Thank you, close to resolved.

September 19, 2019 at 4:49 pm #237763It appears you added a post loop widget into your blog page in the site origin editor.
You shouldn’t ever use that widget unless you know how it works. It’s definitely not something you should add to your blog page as that wouldn’t make any sense. What you’ve done is created an endless loop any time your blog page tries to load. which runs until your server gives up. All the while it’s locking your server resources.
I removed that widget for you.

September 19, 2019 at 4:27 pm #237761Hi you two,
Thank you – The home page is fine, in fact every page works fine EXCEPT the blog. When you click on blog, it takes forever to load and then I’ve gotten the 503 cannot fetch error.
Hannah – the child theme is installed but I made no changes to anything there.
Thank you,
Luke

September 19, 2019 at 4:09 pm #237757ok, let me see if I can help.
I logged into your site. I activated Site Origin. I edited the page you have set as your home page and things appear to work.
Can you tell me, based on how your home page is right now what are you wanting to add?
Ben

September 19, 2019 at 1:35 pm #237736I just don’t know what happened. It was all working fine and something changed when I tried to make a new blog page with the content below he header. I just spent one hour 45 minutes on chat with nameCHEAP, who told me that the only reason I was getting a “503 Backend fetch failed” error was because of the siteorigin pagebuiler plugin. I’ve been using that with Kadence for more that three years now! I taught my client to use SO builder to blog and do I have to now learn gutenberg and teach him to as well??
I hope you can help with this.
Thank you,
Luke
