In reply to: Problem with center bottom title background parallax
Oh, BTW,
The parallax works the way I’m describing on the main page, where I’m using SmartSlider.
If you go to that main page, and stretch the window height up/down the images won’t shift at all.
They only shift when you scroll (or if you stretch the width because that changes the image area), then the scroll effect is similar to what’s happening in the title headers elsewhere in the theme. Thanks,

OK, great thanks Ben!
That helps me understand what it’s doing.
It’s not a big deal at this point so I’ll just use it as is for now.At some point I may see if I can hack it a bit in my child theme.
When fixing the image to the page is it possible to scale/size it to the image area and then fix that to the page for scrolling rather than scaling/sizing it to the full page?In forum: Ascend ThemeIn reply to: Problem with center bottom title background parallax
April 8, 2019 at 1:40 pm #222473Hey,
It doesn’t really matter where the parallax container is. This is because critical to the way this parallax is set up is that background-attachment: fixed is used. This is what allows the image to be “fixed” then moved separately from the scroll. When using background-attachment: fixed the background is fixed to the page, not the container element. Similar to how if you set something to position: fixed it would be fixed to the page, not the container. So, unfortunately, there isn’t a way to do what you want with the parallax that is built into the theme. It’s likely possible if you use something like the revolution slider plugin or some other plugin where you can more finely tune how you want parallax to work for that image and you could get the results you’re looking for. I’m not aware of any settings that can do this though. I’m pretty sure the revolution slider parallax options have to do with the mouse more than scroll but it’s been a while since I’ve used it.

With the header area, once the image area is covered with the image at the start, you don’t need any overlap outside the image area. (Unless you were scrolling the image faster than the page or in a different direction.) Because when you scroll the page down, the image area only gets shorter, and less of the image is visible. Areas outside that image area don’t appear to be shown when you scroll at all. Unless I’m missing something, which is always entirely possible.

Thanks Ben,
It’s true that you need overlap for the scrolling not to run out of image. But in a header image you only need overlap at the top. It starts in position at the top and the page can only scroll down, so the image area can only slide up from there. So you don’t need any overlap at the bottom. By anchoring it to the bottom of the page it’s wasting most of the image which can not be seen and makes it very difficult to position the header image on pages of different heights, even though the image area is exactly the same.
Isn’t there any way to anchor it to a div that’s the maximum that could be seen rather than the full page?
Thanks,

The header is actually displaying the same size on all pages. It just looks different when it’s above the white background. Try adding this CSS to Theme options> Advanced Settings, and let me know if it helps:
header#kad-banner { border-bottom: 1px solid #e6dfdf; } .page-header { border: none; }-Kevin
In forum: Ascend ThemeI’m having a problem with title background images set to center bottom when parallax is on.
If I set them to center bottom and parallax off, the image anchors to the bottom of the title image area as expected. But when I turn on parallax, rather than anchoring to the bottom of the title image area, it appears to be anchoring to the bottom of the full window. Changing the height of the window then shifts the image. That’s in addition to scrolling which shifts the image as expected.
Here’s an example of a page where the background image is set to center bottom, cover and has Parallax on.
*Login to see linkIf you grab the bottom edge of the window and drag it up/down to make the window shorter/taller the image position will shift with the bottom of the window. I expect it to shift if you scroll the window, but why does it shift by making the window taller/shorter? This makes it difficult to position the image on different window sizes.
If you make the window narrower to phone sizes the parallax effect turns off as expected and then the image anchors to the bottom of the image area. Is there any way to have it start anchored to the bottom of the image area when parallax is on before it shifts when scrolling?

April 8, 2019 at 10:10 am #222440Hey,
Thanks for posting! In your theme options > shop settings you have to leave on (or turn on if you’ve turned off) the theme “Enable Product Image Aspect Ratio on Catalog pages”. Looking at your site you’ve turned this off.
Let me know if that helps!

I have deleted a home page slider from the site. But when I view the site in Google Chrome, the blue background of the slider still remains, and most of the images are missing from the site (logo, front page images, other images). Of course I have cleared the cache many times and the problem persists.
When I load the site in Safari, the slider background (blue, 400px tall) flashes briefly, and then disappears.
I have verified with the host that there are no errors on the server showing up. All plugins and theme are current.
In forum: Virtue ThemeHello. I can’t seem to get my images to flip when I hover over them. I have enabled image flip on shop settings and lightbox is ON. Do you have any ideas what this could be? Here is an example product page > *Login to see link

In forum: Ascend ThemeIn reply to: Post Date
April 8, 2019 at 7:51 am #222387Thanks for the CSS – works great. I had to move my post list from the home page right sidebar because the post date also appeared there. So, that’s the confusion. Town residents saw: “Bulk Trash Pickup April 5, 2019” so naturally they thought the post date was the track pickup date. Understandable. Is there any way to remove the date from the sidebar so I can place my posts back there? I used a block widget to post without the date.
Thanks
