In forum: Virtue ThemeHi there,
Is there a way to move these categories on the left sidebar? Also, whenever i click on any of those, they don’t show the result correctly. For example, if I click on vintage prints it shows the first page as vintage prints and when i go to the next page it shows mixed prints.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Marius

Ben,
Thanks for the advice. I’ve implemented your suggestion to create unique sidebars with multiple versions of the widget “Virtue: recent posts” each one set to a different post category: http://www.johngrahamtours.com/blog
My question now is… how do I access the css for this widget? The title font needs to be changed, the size is wrong, and the quoted text from the post is almost illegible.
(On the theme of css, can you also mention how to change blog post css in general? When people leave comments, it is in size 5 font or something miniscule. The category listings under the title of every blog post are likewise tiny and illegible).
Thanks, John

Hi,
-i have bbpress installed and put the index shortcode on a page. Then i choose on that page a custom sidebar. On viewing the forums i get the standard Primary sidebar. Tried different page templates with same result. What am i doing wrong?
-Is it also possible to ditch the sidebar like on this forum ?

A plugin like this may work for you- https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-paginate/
This css will decrease your sidebar width:
@media (min-width: 992px) { .archive.woocommerce aside#ktsidebar { width: 25%; } .archive.woocommerce .main.col-lg-9.col-md-8 { width: 75%; } }You can paste that into your custom css box in Theme Options > Advanced Settings.

The odd thing was, to me anyway, there was a second sidebar already in existence called “sidebar1”. It was just sitting on the Appearance – Widgets page and I took advantage of it. Then it vanished. I know I’d left the Primary Sidebar alone. All very strange to me, but it’s working fine now and I know how to handle this in the future. There’s lots of cool stuff on that Misc tab that I don’t always think to look for!

Ah it sounds like you were simply editing the original sidebar on accident and not a new sidebar. You need to first create a new sidebar in Misc Settings, then add widgets to it in Appearance> Widgets. You should see both sidebars as options in Appearance> Widgets.
Does this work for you?

Kevin, the page I linked is the home page, so that used the Primary Sidebar. When I looked at the widgets page I saw a second sidebar called sidebar1, so I set that up to use a taller Facebook feed on the Events page. It allowed me to select it, but then it disappeared. I didn’t know anything about the settings on the Misc tab under Theme Options, so I used that to create an “events” sidebar and now I’m using that. Still not sure where the first one went, but now that I know how to do this I should be golden. Thanks!

In forum: Virtue ThemeI used the default sidebar1 to set up a second sidebar with the same components as the Primary Sidebar, but specified the Facebook feed to have greater height. I use this on the Events page, defined this as a Sidebar page under Template, then chose sidebar1 when asked which sidebar to use. It all worked beautifully. A short time later I noticed the sidebar wasn’t displaying on this page. When I look at my widgets it says this sidebar is inactive and no longer available. Sure enough, I can’t select it from my Events page any longer. I have NO clue what went wrong.
The site is HERE. Any help is greatly appreciated.

April 24, 2017 at 10:10 am #1426621. I’m not aware of a plugin that would do this automatically but I’m sure there are some out there. You can also just create unique sidebars and assign “virtue: recent posts” widget to each. IN that which you can choose to only show a specific category.
2. You didn’t post a link but you can place social media icons in the header widget or topbar widget area or use the top bar icon menu.
3. You can certainly create whatever kind of menu you want by manually adding things. I don’t see how it makes sense to show all your posts in a drop down but if you only have a couple maybe that works.
4. Plugin, there are loads out there. We even have a widget popup in our membership plugins.
5. ^ same, and yes are membership has a plugin for that too. But of course, there are loads of free options.
6. Please explain more or give an example.

In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: blog navigation
Hello,
I have a blog set up with the Virtue theme. I use SiteOrigen Page Builder to insert text, photo, and video blocks. What my blog is missing is visible, easy-to-use, inviting navigation to other content on my site, especially other blog posts. My wish list:
1. sidebar plugin that shows similarly categorized blog posts with photos and text snippets
2. topbar navigation that shows social media icons
3. topbar navigation that has drop down menus for all blog posts organized by date; another menu that organizes by category, etc.
4. pop-up screen asking readers to sign up for the newsletter
5. buttons to share my content on reader’s social media accounts
6. more visible labeling for folders, or categories of blog post contentBasically, all of the things that one would want on a well designed blog…. any tips for me?
