    For the sidebar, can you tell me or what code extension I need to remove the numbers from the sidebar filter. So it just says “Beige”, not “Beige (7)”?
    This is my shop product page with sidebar

    Thank you,
    Amanda

    You can add into a sidebar (like in a text widget) or into the post itself.

    It’s just html that you get so you can place it anywhere.

    Hey,
    So you want the top of the sidebar to align with the top of the blog post images not the title “Featured Homes”?

    Or are you saying you want to align with the title?

    Would you like the content to move up or the sidebar to move down?

    Hi, just upgraded to premium, woohoo.

    My site is

    On the primary sidebar, the first item is an ad for “Team Wood”, would like it to align with the top of the image for the home page blog posts. The thing is, when I’m actually in the post, it lines up perfectly. If I need a different sidebar for the home page that’s fine… but I’d like to know if I can get things to align better.

    Thanks, Glenn

    Hi Hannah,

    Just you know that your code was useful in case you get similar questions from others.

    Using the template from the plugin removed the sidebar on the right side but I noticed that the sidebar box was still appearing at the bottom above the footer. So, I used your code and it removed it from the bottom.

    Thank you,
    Jay

    Hey Steve,
    Try adding this to your custom css box in Theme Options > Advanced Settings:

    .sidebar section#black-studio-tinymce-3 {
        margin-top: -20px;
    }

    Is that what you were thinking?

    Thank you Hannah and Ben!

    I couldn’t find anyway to use the sidebar on the calendar page as there is no topbar widget under appearance –> widgets.

    To keep things simple, I used their template and the sidebar disappeared, as Ben suggested.

    Cheers,
    Jay

    Can you send me a login to your site?

    It seems that you would really benefit from wordpress 101 course. Have you viewed tutorials on how wordpress works?

    1. You don’t have any widgets added to the sidebar. So it’s empty. Please add widgets to your sidebar. (like the woocommerce category widget)

    2. You have lots of products without a featured image set. Please assign a featured image to each and every product.

    3. In your theme options > shop settings. Scroll down to the product title font. Right now you have it set to white… that makes it impossible to see. Please make the color something other then white.

    Hey Jay,
    For some strange reason it looks like the sidebar is pulling from your topbar widget area. So you can either add content to that area from Appearance > Widgets. Or if you want it gone you can use this css:

    .events-archive .sidebar {
        display: none;
    }
    .events-archive div#ktmain {
        width: 100%;
    }

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Ben,

    I am using a plugin called The Events Calendar.

    This plugin does not provide any option to create a page, widget, or a shortcode to display the calendar. The only option is that it provides you the slug events.

    In appearance –> menus , I used the custom link to access the calendar. Here is the link:

    I have no option to add or remove a sidebar on the calendar page as it is not a real page. However, I see a rectangular box on the right side which, I suppose, should be a sidebar.

    I would like to be able to add a real sidebar or if not possible to get rid of that box completely.

    I searched the source files of this plugin to see if there is any line of code like this one: <?php get_sidebar(); ?> and delete it but I was not able to find anything.

    Does this box have to do with Virtue Premium or is it part of this plugin?

    Can you please help me get rid of it or replace it with a real sidebar?

    Thanks a lot,
    Jay

    1. It was a fact that was also a question. Wondering how we had not gotten that explained. Reading on you will see that I specify where to turn it on.

    2. This isn’t on by default? so asking why it’s on was asking why you turned it on?
    Reading on you will see that I specify where to turn it off.

    3. Ok so turning the sidebar on should really make this easier to understand.

    4. yes turn it on. You can choose whatever sidebar you want to use. primary is a good starting point.

    5. Do you want the products to fit into rows or not? That’s totally up to you whether or not you want to it on or off.

    I hope that helps.

    Hi Ben,
    The words you’ve used I do understand, but the content I do not fully understand. Sorry for that. That’s why I’ll break your answer into pieces. Maybe I can get answers directly to the question of my problem .I do not know exactly, what the meaning is of what you’ve explained.

    I’m think there is some confusion. The page you linked to doesn’t have a sidebar?

    Is this a question to me or a fact . If I need to create a sidebar , pls want you tell me how ?

    You have the category filter tuned on?

    this question eludes me. How can I tune on the category filter ?

    I was under the impression you wanted a sidebar and that you wanted a list of your categories in that sidebar.

    Yes I want a sidebar and you understand it correct , I want a list in that sidebar as I wrote in my prior message to you.

    In your theme options > shop settings. The first option. Make the layout one that has a sidebar,

    In shop settings I choose for option 1: 4 columns ; option 2: show the side bar . I select the block with the 2 columns. Is that right ? ; Option 3 I’ve choose for primary sidebar . Is that OK too?

    Then make sure to turn off the category filter (option is a little future down)

    It’s turned off. Still a question about “Force products into rows, Products fit into rows regardless of size” Should this be On or Off ?

    Sorry Ben , I thought the quality of my english would be sufficient to use the virtue theme, but my brains are, I think, in my 78 years’re not like before.
    Wishing you a very fine day.

    Hi Ben,

    the procedure as described by you in the prior reply is done much earlier by me . That’s not the problem. If you look on the website page http://www.josbogers.nl/_hennywp/winkel , you see all the categories mixed together horizentally. I give you the line that specifies the category (see the url I gave you prior. ) < Alle, 3D applicaties, Acryl verf producten, Handmate , Hobby artikelen, VERF, kinderservies , poppen en trollen > Between < , > you see the current categories. all mixed up. Because <Handmate> is a main category/titel where various categories of a lower level should be knotted ,such as < 3D Applicaties, kinderservies, poppen en trollen>and I have for testing purpose, linked some products .
    Hobby artikelen is on the same level as Handmate . A direct category is , for instance, VERF and on a lower level connect to VERF is the category Acryl verf producten.
    Due to a lot of dutch words it’s , of course, not easy for you to read those items, But perhaps you would be able to understand what my problem is and what the wish is.
    1) In general I want the categories as mentioned above vertical in a sidebar (prefer left side) 2)The category should have a good structure (what I like to show below) so one can see which products belong to which sub-category and which sub category to which maincategory ,according to the following schedule.

    1.
    Handmate (has no products , just 5 categories and 15 products)
    – category 1 – add 3 products
    – category 2 – add 3 products
    – category 3 and so on upto category 5 also include 3 products

    2.
    Hobby artikelen (has no products , just 12 categories of each 8 products)
    – VERF (=in english PAINT — this category is divided into brushes, paints like acrylic, watercolor paint)
    – and so on

    I hope the structure is clear to you? How can I solve this ? So recapitulating.: Vertical categories in various levels . And if possible on the SHOP page (in dutch -winkel-) and the home page.
    Thank you ,
    Jos

    Hey,
    Your issue is that all your image are added with the alignnone class. and thus they are displayed block.

    You can add this css:

    .footerclass .textwidget img.alignnone, .sidebar .textwidget img.alignnone {
        display: inline-block;
        margin: 0;
    }

    Or remove that class.

    Ben

    #85969

    1. You would need to use add a function like this:

    function kad_sidebar_on_portfolio_archive($sidebar) {
      if (is_post_type_archive('portfolio')) {
        return true;
      }
      return $sidebar;
    }
    add_filter('kadence_display_sidebar', 'kad_sidebar_on_portfolio_archive');

    Note that for portfolio grid page templates you would need this:

    function kad_sidebar_on_portfolio_grid($sidebar) {
      if (is_page_template('page-portfolio.php')) {
        return true;
      }
      return $sidebar;
    }
    add_filter('kadence_display_sidebar', 'kad_sidebar_on_portfolio_grid');

    2.

    The reason they are not the same size is because your images are too small.. https://www.honeybees.nz/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/beekeeper-with-attitude-2.jpg

    They are not at least the size needed and thus can’t be all sized the same.

    Ben, the menu has disappeared off the portfolio category pages now, is it possible to have the sidebar menu there too?
    Also the post image sizes in category view have all become different, they were the same before:
    https://www.honeybees.nz/beekeeping-info/getting-started-with-bees/

    Tks, John

    #85854

    The function should be this for the sidebar just on the portfolio posts so you don’t affect everything else:

    function kad_sidebar_on_portfolio_page($sidebar) {
      if (is_singular('portfolio')) {
        return true;
      }
      return $sidebar;
    }
    add_filter('kadence_display_sidebar', 'kad_sidebar_on_portfolio_page');

    In terms of the sidebar menu just use this:

    .sidebar .widget-inner .menu li a {
        font-size: 10px;
        line-height: 20px;
    }

    As for adding items to the menu each post you make you would have to go to apperance > menus and add the post to your custom menu. are you adding it there?

    Ben

    #85843

    Unfortunately, I’m not there yet.

    There’s something flakey going on with the portfolio sidebar menu.

    Here’s an example:
    https://www.honeybees.nz/beekeeping-info/getting-started-with-bees/
    The second article (of the two showing) does not appear in the sidebar menu and I can’t figure why.
    It also was highlighting the menu item when in that page, but that’s disappeared.
    I’ve resaved permalinks.
    I’ve cleared browser cache several times

    Earlier, I did do another article and it appeared second in the list ok, but I had to trash it (trash has been emptied), but before emptying, the item in the trash was still appearing in the sidebar portfolio menu.

    Can you plse see what’s wrong?

    Tks, a lot, John

    #85790

    1. So you’re wanting the font size to decrease the lower the menu item is in your sidebar menu?
    I’m not sure that this is possible with just CSS.

    2. Try using this CSS.

    .home #ktsidebar {
        display: none;
    }

    .home .main.col-lg-9.col-md-8 {
        width: 100%;
    }
