Very nice. Just what I needed. I got confused with widgets vs. sidebars. Thanks for your help.
But I had to place <h3 class=”hometitle”> into the text widget to get the same layout for title caption.
I think it would be much easier (and logical as well) to place another “newest” element into the homepage layout manager.

    Hey,
So just like you can add best selling products you can also add a home widget area… then go to your home widget area on your widgets page. Add a text widget with the shortcode.

This has nothing to do with a sidebar.

    Have you see this: https://www.kadencewp.com/creating-a-home-page-with-virtue/

The only way to do this is by copying the source output html into a text box in the sidebar. If you post a link I can help show you the html.

Bbpress pages will show a sidebar by default. It will use the primary sidebar option by default. Do you have anything in the primary sidebar widget area?

    Hey,
    Just fyi,
The search widget that is a part of the woocommerce plugin does that switch for you. All you have to do is replace the wordpress search with the woocommerce one a sidebar or turn on the widget area in the header.

But your way works fine too.

    Hi there!
I really like the category filter effect that lies over my products in the shop page. However, I would like to move it to the sidebar and have it there instead of the category list.

    Thank you for your time!

I don’t use sidebars or widges

Theme options > shop settings. Turn the sidebar off. Choose the full option.

Yes I did. For some reason the home page only can be displayed on full width. Even when I set a normal home page (not the shop) I can’t set de sidebar.

    #23810

    Hey,
You set the shop sidebar in the theme options > shop settings.
    Right at the top.

    Hi,
    Please can you tell me
a)how I can place a tag cloud on a page/post rather than in a sidebar?
    b) is it possible to get product and post tags to display together rather than in separate clouds?
    many thanks for your help

Try going into your shop edit page. You should see sidebar options (if not select it from screen options in the top right corner). There you can choose whether or not to display a sidebar.

    #23725

Hey, in theme options > home layout choose the first option beside Display a sidebar on the Home Page?
    Hope that works for you!

I can’t enable the sidebar on the Shop page. I have it set as the Home page and I would like to display the sidebar.
    This is the webpage: http://www.modanenes.com

    Ben,
Thanks again. I wanted more control of the page and did not want to just set the default page to be the blog page. I ended up using the Column shortcode the divide the page into two columns. This also allowed me to still enable the sidebar. Also could have done this with Page Builder.

    [columns]
    [span6]<h4>News</h4> [blog_posts items=”4″ orderby=”date” cat=”news”][/span6]
    [span6]<h4>My Story</h4>[blog_posts items=”4″ orderby=”date” cat=”my-story”][/span6]
    [/columns]

    Hello.

I want to put an small image in the sidebar, I want it small to save page load (travelmap_2014_07_Q60_small.jpg). This thumbnail should open a bigger version of this thumbnail using the lightbox (travelmap_2014_07_Q60.jpg).

    Image target: travelmap_2014_07_Q60.jpg

I think the ‘image link (optional)’ field in virtue:image widget does not work. Because clicking in the small image will always open the same small image, not the image in that field.
Virtue:gallery and Visual Editor widgets also do the same, they show the same image, not the imag eI set in the iamge link field.

I will leave those test widgets in my side bar:

    thanks

Ohh this is not good, sorrrry.
In IE on the home page the sidebar background appears on mouse movement and disapears if you stay still, on all other pages background and navigation bar are permanently visible and grey/black; the navigation background looks diferent on home page from the rest.

On Firefox the unstyled classic background of the navigation sidebar stays permanent on top everywhere, even on top of the header until i scroll down. The navigation bar – the one you can drag- is not visible at all.
Bonus: some huge white space appeared under the footer.

    Chrome is similar to IE
Is there some CSS that conflicts? I also added a js line in a footerwidget for anchor-movement and positioning.

Nice would be to have only the rounded black small navigation bar without any background, all time visible – on all pages.

    Thank you,
    B.

This is strange. I’m not seeing the sidebar on the homepage but on all other pages I am. Try adding this:

    #ascrail2000 {
    position: static !important;
    }

No not really, removing the responsive nature isn’t really an option with this them. I would also highly recommend you don’t do something like this. Bootstrap is the most popular css framework on the web. It’s backed by research, you want a tablet layout for tablets. Things like the menu and sidebar get really cramped in a small tablet screen unless you change the layout.
