    Hi Ben,

    I would like to post a follow up question on this topic from a couple of years ago. I confess that I never had the time to figure out how to add widget areas to different pages that would show the same content. Instead I managed by updating the information on both pages. But now I would like to add the same thumbnail advertisements for each individual tour to a sidebar menu. So I’m revisiting this communication to see if you could give me some tips on how to achieve what I would like.

    What I need:
    – Advertisements for a variety of tours, showing up on every page. These need to be image+text
    – This could be in a sidebar (my first thought), or in a slider display on each page

    Here is the sidebar that I would like to edit: http://www.johngrahamtours.com/tamada-club/
    Right now it just has text titles that when clicked, redirect to another page on the website. That is fine. But I would like these titles to be a little more attractive and enticing. They need to include images and text. If I can create a good quality sidebar with blocks of content that advertise other tours, I would implement such a sidebar site wide so that viewers of every page could see what other tours are on offer.

    Another option is a slider with text and image blocks that each advertise for a separate tour. Something like what is seen at the bottom of this page: https://www.steppestravel.com/blog/understanding-overtourism/

    I am conscious that my website has terrible load times (probably a product of a cheap hosting plan), so I don’t want to overburden my site. Let me know what advise you have.

    Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

    John

    Hi
    In my website I want to increase width of latest posts and sidebar under carousel. How I can do this? Can you please help me

    #242356

    Hi there,
    My client has asked me to implement a banner/strip graphic showing delivery information and a countdown to the cut-off time for same-day dispatch, similar to what you can see here:

    I’ve found countdown timer plugins that use shortcodes, and can use one of those with an icon and text to build out the full line of content, but am wondering where best I can place it. Is it:

    1. Possible to add it to the WooCommerce product/category pages without creating a child theme?
    2. Alternately, possible to add it somehow to just above the main menu? Problem with this is that any B2B clients still using non-widescreen monitors aren’t seeing that menu as is. I’m not sure how I could make it responsive for mobile either.
    3. One other option would be to add it to the shop sidebar, but I’d want to use a coloured background for the (presumably, text) widget I’d use, to draw attention. How can I do set the background colour for a text widget?

    Any thoughts on the best way to achieve this would be much appreciated! The site is RollieUK.com.
    Thanks,
    Tracy

    Hey,
    Here is what is in the works, Basically it will be a near-empty theme with some Gutenberg templates and key options theme related. Kadence Blocks Pro will add a “header” block and some blocks that are more for headers, footers and sidebars as well as Global styles within Kadence Blocks Pro so that nearly everything will be controlled through Kadence Blocks and Gutenberg. This will work with the full site editing that Gutenberg is building in. It’s not coming super soon because there are still things being worked out with Gutenberg and full site editing.

    Ascend, Virtue and Pinnacle will bring in support for gutenberg templates as well but from a slightly different approach and more theme options based.

    Hi Hannah

    there is no sidebar on the home page, off in Theme Options > Home Page Layout.

    Theme Options>Blog settings>Choose a Default Sidebar for your Single blog post set to ‘primary sidebar’.

    the client want the normal sidebar for any single or archive page posts.

    BUT

    they want an ‘Interesting Posts’ category displayed on the blog page using the ‘blog sidebar’ sidebar.

    i created a blog page using the blog template and assigned the sidebar to be ‘blog sidebar’ it works as expected until you assign the blog page in Appearance>Customize>Home Page Settings when it reverts to the default behavior of displaying the Primary Sidebar. the page still shows the ‘blog sidebar’ assigned to it.

    damn edge cases :-/

    i knew about the archive plugin, but would be a nice thing to have in your widget when you have time to embroider 😉

    regards

    chris

    this only happens on the page assigned to be the blog page

    #241857

    Hey Chris,
    Can you link to where your sidebar is being overridden? If it’s the homepage, you need to set that in Theme Options > Home Page Layout.
    For yearly archives, you can use a plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/anual-archive/
    Hope that helps!

    Hi

    when i set the blog page sidebar to a new sidebar (blog sidebar) it still only shows the default primary sidebar. i can use the blog sidebar everywhere else. if i create a new page using the blog sidebar with the blog template it works, but once i add it to the Home Page settings as the blog page it reverts to the primary sidebar.

    also, the client would like to have the blog archive widget by year and not monthly.

    regards

    Brand new install of Ascend Pro here. I’ve used this theme (and others from the Kadence suite) for many months now for clients, but just bought a personal membership for my own site. Setup on a fresh Dreamhost shared server with Jetpack and WP Super Cache. After activating the theme I’m finding that when I visit Theme Options it loads the UI for the header and sidebar but not the main settings pane in the center. None of the sidebar options work and the status bar shows “javascript:void(0);” when hovering over any of the options. Going into the Customizer reveals options such as header choices but clicking on the controls has no effect.

    Switching from Ascend Pro to Pinnacle Pro seemed to clear things up, but even after deleting and reinstalling Ascend that theme still breaks in exactly the same way.

    I’ve disabled WP Super Cache and Jetpack as a test as well as reset my htaccess file in case I’d setup any incorrect server rules that might have prevented theme functions from loading. But even with a mostly empty WordPress install with possible conflicts removed from the environment I can’t get Ascend Pro to allow any theme customizations.

    I tried to clarify this at the beginning, it’s been really hard to understand what you wanted.

    If you had to try and hack this in you would need to add css like this:

    .widget_product_categories ul>li>.kt-toggle-sub {
        display: block;
        width: 30px;
        text-align: center;
        position: absolute;
        right: 0;
        top: 7px;
        font-family: virtue_icons !important;
        speak: none;
        font-style: normal;
        font-weight: 400;
        font-variant: normal;
        text-transform: none;
        line-height: 1;
        -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased;
        -moz-osx-font-smoothing: grayscale;
        line-height: 24px;
        font-size: 11px;
        z-index: 11111;
        color: #555;
        border-bottom: 2px solid transparent;
        height: 24px;
        -webkit-transition: all .2s ease-in-out;
        -o-transition: all .2s ease-in-out;
        transition: all .2s ease-in-out;
        cursor: pointer;
    }
    .widget_product_categories ul>li>.kt-toggle-sub:before {
        display: block;
        content: "\e3b2";
    }
    .widget_product_categories ul li > .kt-toggle-sub:before {
        -webkit-transform: rotate(0deg);
        -ms-transform: rotate(0deg);
        -o-transform: rotate(0deg);
        transform: rotate(0deg);
    }
    .widget_product_categories ul li.kt-drop-toggle > .kt-toggle-sub:before {
        -webkit-transform: rotate(180deg);
        -ms-transform: rotate(180deg);
        -o-transform: rotate(180deg);
        transform: rotate(180deg);
    }
    .widget_product_categories ul li ul.children{
      display:none;
    }
    .widget_product_categories ul li.kt-drop-toggle > ul.children {
      display:block;
    }
    .product-categories .cat-item a:after {
        display: none;
    }
    .product-categories li, .sidebar .product-categories li, .sidebar .widget_categories li {
        position: relative;
    }

    AND in your theme options > header and footer scripts you would need to add javascript like this in the footer scripts. But this is all outside of normal so upkeep on this code is going to require you manage it.

    <script type="text/javascript">
    jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {
    $('.widget ul ul.children').each(function(){
    			$(this).parent('li').append('<span class="kt-toggle-sub"></span>');
    			if($(this).parent('li').find('.count').length ) {
    				$(this).parent('li').addClass('kt-toggle-has-count');
    			}
    			if($(this).parent('li').hasClass('current-cat') || $(this).parent('li').hasClass('current-cat-parent') ) {
    				$(this).parent('li').addClass('kt-drop-toggle');
    			}
    		});
    		$('.kt-toggle-sub').click(function (e) {
    				e.preventDefault();
    				if($(this).parent('li').hasClass('kt-drop-toggle') ) {
    				 	$(this).parent('li').removeClass('kt-drop-toggle');
    				} else {
    				 	$(this).parent('li').addClass('kt-drop-toggle');
    				}
    		});
    });
    </script>

    Hi,

    yes, I had in Theme Options > Product Settings you have set the Product Sidebar Default to “Yes, Show”

    And in product pages I had “Yes” and default.

    Now that I manually changed the products pages to “Yes” and the specific sidebar needed, then it worked. But not with default.

    So problem solved for now. But still wondering why it did not work in the first place.

    Hi,

    I have a site cool-x.fi

    I am unable to get a sidebar visible to my single products page

    I have put the setting from theme options so that it should show a sidebar, but somehow it does not work. Do you have any idea what could be the problem?

    Hey Ben,

    I added the following to my function.php file. But AMP Settings Meta Box is still available for other users.

    add_action( 'add_meta_boxes', 'hide_metaboxs_some_users', 1000 );
    function hide_metaboxs_some_users() {

    		remove_meta_box( 'image_post_metabox', 'post', 'high' );
    		remove_meta_box( 'quote_post_metabox', 'post', 'high' );
    		remove_meta_box( 'post_metabox', 'post', 'high' );
