In reply to: Where to add Testimonials?
Hi Ben,
1. Great, thanks. Do I need to do anything or will the update be automatic for my site?
2. Perfect! Got it, thanks.One LAST question (I hope). I would like to have two columns (thru pagebuilder) in the testimonial page – one big photo and one column of text. However, the testimonial image thumbnail seems to be forcing the second column to be below the first. Is there a way to A) force all three items on one line? (testimonial thumbnail, column of text, column of text) or B) eliminate the display of the testimonial thumbnail on the full testimonial page only (maybe this is easier?).

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: No automatic WordPress update!
Hi Kevin,
I haven’t tried to update it as I am worried, the site could crash as so far I didn’t need to take any action to update my WordPress.
I just wanted to know if you guys are aware of any issue, conflict etc. with between WordPress 4.5 and Virtue Premium.
If you haven’t seen any issue, I will backup first and then try to update.
Thanks,
JayIn forum: Virtue ThemeHi Ben,
Until recently, whenever there was a new release of WordPress, the version on my site was automatically updated to the new release.
However, since the release of WordPress 4.5, the update has not taken place on my site and I see on my WordPress backend the following message:
An updated version of WordPress is available. You can update to WordPress 4.5 automatically or download the package and install it manually:
I haven’t changed any settings.
Do you know what the issue is?
Thank you,
JayIn forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Kadence Slider Click on Image
Hi Ben,
Did this requested feature ever make it into an update? I’ve looked into my Kadence Slider settings but can’t find an option for making the entire slider image clickable. I had forgotten about this but now that my site is almost ready to launch I wanted to see if adding this feature was still a possibility, or if it was just hidden somewhere where I don’t see it.
Thanks,
-Adam
In forum: Virtue ThemeIn forum: Virtue ThemeHello,
I have set up a website using the Virtue Premium theme and have installed the plugin WP Customer Area. The plugin also uses Bootstrap and in the documentation states that it is known to conflict, usually, when the theme also uses Bootstrap. The suggestion is to disable the theme’s Bootstrap using this code in a child’s theme functions file: `function fix_cuar_and_theme_bootstrap_conflict(){
if (function_exists(‘cuar_is_customer_area_page’)
&& (cuar_is_customer_area_page(get_queried_object_id())
|| cuar_is_customer_area_private_content(get_the_ID())))
{
wp_dequeue_script(‘bootstrap-scripts’);
wp_dequeue_style(‘bootstrap-styles’);
}
}
add_action(‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘fix_cuar_and_theme_bootstrap_conflict’, 20);`
My site is a static website. I’m not using the Woocommerce aspect. Will that affect the way the site operates? If not, could you tell me how to disable it?

In forum: Pinnacle ThemeHey there,
i have problem at creating my website with Pinnacle Premium.
Recently i have configured a static home page and created it with page builder. On top of this page i use a Kadence Slider with a transparent menu header.
Now i want to create a blog page with a different picture on top. Is it possible to set for example a static picture on top, for example below the menu header? Currently, the page looks quite “poor” when there is just the menu on top. The blog contents should be below the header picture.I would be pleased if anyone could help me.
Thanks in advance,

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Change Default Max Image/Slider Height
April 18, 2016 at 11:21 pm #91348I can’t tell you about the local site. It is written into the code to crop the images but I can add an option to turn that off. I’ll put that into the next update that is about to come out. So in the blog settings you’ll see an option to turn off crop for single post header image.

In forum: Virtue ThemeHi,
Is there a way to change the default Max Images/Slider Height for feature images as they appear on a single blog post page? I would like disable it, or set the maximum to such a height that none of my images are effected by it. I see the maximum height can be set for individual posts, under Standard Post Options, but it would be great to change the default for all posts. Would there be a way to do this with some coding on functions.php?
Previously, when I was only working locally, none of my blog posts had their featured images cropped, no matter how large they were. I don’t know why it’s changed now that my site is live, but just add that to the list of things I can’t explain about WordPress…
Thanks,
-Adam

In forum: Pinnacle ThemeIn reply to: Pinnacle Premium 1.5.1 – no update button?
April 18, 2016 at 6:38 pm #91318Hey,
Short explanation. You need to manually update, see here: https://www.kadencewp.com/manually-updating-a-theme/
Long explanation: The reason is actually in part how far back you are. We used to use a service called wp-updates. But there service was sold to a new owner. About three months ago we moved away from them because of this and are now using a new api service for updates. With all versions pre 1.5.4 the code in the theme looks at wp-updates.com for the latest then once you had gotten to that update all future updates would have come through the new api. There was about 6 weeks where you could update through wp-updates and be on the new system.
Since your pre 1.5.4 it’s still looking at the url wp-updates.com and unfortunately that server crashed about a month ago. No one using there service has been able to contact the new owner. They finally managed to get the site back up but lost all data and user accounts and I still can’t get a hold of anyone. So until they get there stuff together (pretty sure that will never happen at this point) you won’t see the auto update for 1.5.4 but you can manually update and then you will be set.
So just to be super clear once your using a version higher then 1.5.4 you will see the nice update option from inside the wordpress admin.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Main Slider Image Sizes Issue
I am using chrome, I have tried various computers, on some computers the slider simply doesnt show, on some it works great, and on others images appear either too small and all lined up or not centered and we only see half of it like here:
http://www.the-rise.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/slider1-2.jpg
I seem to have loading issues for the whole site on mobile aswell, sometimes the site just wont load and the screen stays black, maybe the 2 problems are linked together somehow?
Thanks a lot for your time!

In forum: Pinnacle ThemeApril 18, 2016 at 4:42 pm #91283Hey,
Please check out : https://www.kadencewp.com/need-for-speed/Yslow is going to rank based on the tools you are using to speed up your site. Things like caching, minify. Those aren’t and can’t be in a theme because of how the web, wordpress and themes work. You have to do those things through plugins or manually because they are optimizers to the server and the output of html.
If you look at the report you posted, just take one second to look at what is giving you the rank… No caching, no defering of JS, no cache verify and no minify… All those things are not related to the theme they have to do with how you optimize your site.Ben

This is a bit nitpicking, but better a bit more of caution than missing out something:
I followed the hints at https://mikejolley.com/2013/08/13/keeping-your-shit-secure-whilst-developing-for-wordpress/ during developing my child theme. Hence, I set
define( WP_DEBUG, true );But when doing so, there are sometime errors, not many, but sometimes that come from virtue. Here is just one as an example. Very bad especially for ecommerce 😉
Just to let you know. When you click around there are more of these. If you are interested I could send you more, but it is easy to find yourself most of them by browsing a few pages.
