My apologies, through more searching I managed to put together there isn’t actually a problem: I was checking the mobile versions of the website by changing the browser window, but I wasn’t aware I had to refresh the page after resizing for a correct preview. After a refresh, the header is correctly non-sticky in the smaller screen sizes.

    Hey,
Contacting your host would be best with a server error because they would be able to see the logs and know exactly whats going on. Also can help you get the site up and running.

When you installed the theme by uploading from within wordpress did you get the option to activate the theme?

ok, so on the site you linked to all the images at actually the same size. The graphic is different but the image itself for each is 120×120.

    See here for example:
    http://media.chainreactioncycles.com/is/image/ChainReactionCycles/brand552?$brandSection$
    http://media.chainreactioncycles.com/is/image/ChainReactionCycles/brand475?$brandSection$

In this case your best option would be to make all your images the same size.

    Hey,

I’m running into a problem with the standard header style that is leaving me stumped. The sticky header option seems to work too well for me: unlike the description of “Automatically off for mobile”, the mobile header/menus are sticky as well, taking up a lot of screen space and floating over page content.

With sticky header turned off, the mobile menu works as I’d like it to, but since the regular menu works great as sticky that is not exactly a solution :’)

I’ve already tried switching sticky header off on all other header styles, before switching back to standard and turning sticky back on, but that lead to no change.

Any ideas what might be going on?

(I’m currently working on a local version of the website, so linking to the site would take a bit of work. I’ve made only few CSS changes so far, limited to captions, fonts etc. Nothing that seems related to the header.)

Thanks, Hannah. What I’m looking for is to have the formatting in the blog text–as it appears on the blog post page (http://www.starrigger.net/2016/01/30/the-ponce-chronicles-part-2/) –to be present in the blog summary excerpt as it appears on my home page (http://www.starrigger.net/) and as it appears on the main blog page (http://www.starrigger.net/blog/). Right now, italics, paragraphs breaks, and links are all stripped out of the summaries. At least when I view them in Chrome and in Firefox.

I don’t particularly want the full blog post to appear on my home page, but someone on another board (I believe from Kadence) indicated that the only way to keep formatting from being stripped out in the summaries was to set posts to show full content, and then manually enter “read more” tags.

The rest of your comments I don’t quite follow. I did not configure this site myself, and it’s possible the web designer did not use the Blog Template for the blog page. I don’t know how I could tell. In any case, I’m not seeing the options that you mention.

Your last comment about using shortcode is intriguing. I wonder if I could use that to order posts by date, earliest first, when they are displayed by category. (For example, I would like to be able to create a link to this particular series of posts, and allow someone to read them all in order, with first appearing at the top.) But that’s a separate issue from the formatting thing.

Give it a try. I’m not exceptionally well versed in shortcodes yet, but I am able to place this code anywhere on my site and it brings up the shop categories. There might need to be some kind of variation in the code between what works on my site and what works on your site, but the best way to find out is to try. Let me know if it works for you.

Well just turning off debug mode would do it. You don’t need debug mode and should’t ever run it on a live site.

Also an early version of php will keep you from any notices. (again that doesn’t mean error)
    Ben

    #78906

    Hey,
Sounds like your using php version 7 (which is new). And your getting notices but that is not the same as an error. A notice just tells you that something is changing in the future.

Do you have debug turned on? How come you are using php7 on this site?

    In reply to: Sidebar height

    #78900

    Hey,
You can’t make the sidebar the same height as the content unless you used custom javascript to set a fixed pixel size. Or you change the css to an absolute position which isn’t good for responsive sites.

If your just wanting to add a border you can do it on the side of the content that way it will stretch the height of the content regardless of the sidebar.

If you post a link I can help.

Most likely your server is hitting the max memory in your php settings and thats why it can’t display the page. This can happen on some low end hosting. That would just be a guess though. Your best option would be to look in your php logs.. You would be able to see right there what was causing that error.

Since there are thousands of sites using this theme and woocommerce I really doubt that it’s going to be an issue with the theme so checking those error logs would be the best starting point. Most hosts can help you with this

Can you post a link to your site?
    Ben

    #78885

Yes we have….when you go in the way you mention. For some reason when we go from the category bar that for us is on the right side, you only see that image upon clicking the category option. I am hoping to get our 5 main categories at the top of the page with a thumbnail image..it appears this way when you click to go one level in…

As example you can see via our site…

    Raphael,

Please note that we prefer you create your own topics rather then posting in others.

IN terms of this topic you are much better off to just upload through wordpress and getting your host to increase the max upload if that is an issue.

If you are set on ftp then you need to login to your server, navigate to the wp-content/themes folder and drag the downloaded theme file into that folder. Once it’s all uploaded you can go into your site and activate.

Just note that many servers are slow with ftp and inconsistent so you will want to verify that each file was truly uploaded.

This might be something that can be accomplished with some custom CSS. Would you be willing to post a link to your site so that I can take a look at it?

    In reply to: revolution slider

    #78847

    Hey Marc,
You don’t get a activation code when using the slider through a theme license. When you purchased a theme you got access to use the plugin on one site through the themes license. This is separate from direct licensing from the plugin authors and there has always been a way for you to enter a purchase code if you wanted direct support and updates from the plugin authors (on previous versions of the slider it was hidden by default).

Recently the revolution slider plugin authors have made a push to offer some special things if you get a license directly from them. Things like direct updates from them instead of having to get updates as the theme updates. and direct support from them, they also started offering some demo sliders that they are calling “premium templates” and this is just a quick way to add some demo sliders that you can copy into your site. These are only accessible if you purchase directly from them. But you can download demos here for free: http://revolution.themepunch.com/free-slider-exchange/

    Hi,
i saw answer about upgrading to newer version in the Virtue forum and because i also cant see in my dashboard any option to upgrade the theme although there is a new build, i wanted to make sure i can also use the same procedure:
[Ben] “One quick way to update would be to activate a different theme remove the version you have and upload the new version. You won’t lose any theme options by doing this.”

i also wanted to understand before i’m doing it, where all the theme configurations saved (in which file in my site).
my upgrade will be between 1.5.2 to 1.5.7 – do you know about any API that was broken in the new build or any incompatibility between the two builds?

    Thanks,
