In reply to: Google Page Speed Tool

    #49543

    Hey,
Merging css and js files are best done in a plugin using something like w3 total cache or wp-rocket plugin.

Check out the demo score: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/9kGnW/http://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/

You always want to focus on page load speed over score anyway. For example run amazon through google page speed.

“accessibility ready” isn’t a set of rules that you can check. In general yes the front end of the site is. The backend theme options panel is not. Some screen readers would have a lot of issues with the options panel.

In reply to: Format Issue: Blog

    #49541

So, I was able to fix the picture formatting issue! Since I migrated 75% of the content from a previous SquareSpace site, I still had some code from SquareSpace embedded in-to most of the posts… But I have removed all that code and the picture posts are show properly! Also, I decided to change all the post to have the header as an image carousal.

However, the video posts are still showing everything in bold. I tried what Hannah suggested and that didn’t work. Plus, I have custom experts in all the posts (now).

    Hey,
Icons are not files, they are part of a font. You can’t replace a file to change them. That would also not work for updates. You just have to change the css. If you can post a link to your site and post a link with the icon showing that you want to use I can help with the css to replace.

Hello, for a while now I’ve been having a problem adding the shortcode slider to posts, for example the settings on a portfolio post I do the following:

    PROJECT LAYOUT: above

    PROJECT OPTIONS: shortcode slider

    SLIDER SHORTCODE: [cycloneslider id=”che-vuoi-rat-face”]

Upon publishing the shortcode disappears and the slider never shows up, I tried the revolution slider which didn’t work either, the page can be seen here:

Am I doing anything wrong here?

    thanks

    Hannah,

I am sorry, it still does not cover the entire page. Can you take a look?

    My site: anewcityanewstory.com

See the white space at the bottom. What I am trying to accomplish is the picture to take up the entire space from header to footer. Is this possible?

    Thanks.

    Hannah / Ben,

I just cleared my cache and then attempted to link from the website to my FB page again and still get an error message, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.” It is good to know you were able to arrive to it correctly, I am just wondering why I can’t.

    Ben,

I am working on a MAC so Safari is my internet browser. I am not sure but I believe I have a pop up blocker automatically installed. ?

    hello,

    my site is http://www.tpy-urbanblog.com

i have just started my first blog, and i am a bit confused with how this is all supposed to work..

for the most part, my blog will be showing off pictures, and i was wondering, do i have to set all images as featured images for them to show on the main blog page? and if so, i noticed that it separates the image from the content… what am i doing wrong? do you have a tutorial for showing the way to set up posts?

    RE:

Can you tell me why the feature image for the blog post “Florida Book Awards” is so large? It’s a recurring problem on this site, where the feature image seems to be an expanded version of the image that was uploaded. I have a feeling there is something I am not understanding about either the blog settings within Virtue or the media settings within WordPress. Thanking you in advance for your help.

I’ve tried adding a widget to the page I created for the login/logout and it did not work correctly. How do I add to the topbar? I know how to add a page to the topbar but how would you add a dropdown box for that (I assume that’s what you meant)? If you go to the temporary site you can see the page I created. I see this feature all the time and am not sure why it is so hard to get it to work correctly on our site. Seems silly to pay for support on a free plugin just for a simple answer, it’s GOT to be simple, like I said, I see it all the time! I’ve tried adding code to the functions.php and all that does it give me errors. But then again, i’m not familiar with codes. We do not need to hide the login/log out widget, we want it to show at all times as we have the prices hidden until logged in. That’s why we want the login/logout/my account kind of the first thing you see when you get on our site, not on a side bar. Once logged-in that would be ok. Thanks for your help, I greatly appreciate it!

    In reply to: Revision History

    #49476

    Hey,
Revision history is only for posts in wordpress. For the theme options you would need to make backups through the theme options > import/export tab. Unfortunately there isn’t any way to bring this content back through wordpress. Using a backup on our site our one on your server would be the only way if you don’t have a copy you made yourself.

Based on what your saying it sounds like the server timed out. Unless your whole server hiccuped it’s possible you need to increase your php settings on the server to keep this type of hiccup from happening. (most decent hosting companies can help you with this). You need to check with them and make sure your max memory and max execution time is increase in the php settings.

    Hope that helps,

    Ben

I’m not sure your asking about a multi lingual site. But I’m not sure what you are asking about? Fonts maybe? Have you set the fonts to have the cyrillic subfont?

Hey, I suggest using google analytics to verify your site or using a plugin that is just for verification. If you don’t know what your doing in the wordpress editor it’s pretty easy to accidentally crash a site.

If you want to add the code yourself look in the head.php file You will see the head tag there.

You can have a multi-lingual site. You would just need a plugin. See this tutorial- https://www.kadencewp.com/working-wpml/

    Hi,

I was saving an edit to the Custom CSS box under Theme Options when my chrome hanged. When I got it working again, the entire CSS box got emptied. And I’m not certain how many things in my website got affected, but my navigation bar was the most obvious. The font and font size seemed to have changed and I have no idea how to get it back to the way it was. I can’t seem to find a Revision History in the backend where I can revert to before the change was made. I tried to apply a custom css to the navigation bar fonts but to no avail either ):

Any advice on this? Is there anywhere where I can find a Revision History on page changes?

    My website link is http://www.phoebephilo.sg.

    Thanks for your time!

    Cheers,
    Phoebe

    Mike:
Thanks for the reply. Yep I did approach siteground. We choose their mid range shared plan called “Grow Big.” Even their “Geek Plan” would not allow enough limit so they tried to sell me their Cloud @ $54.00 per month. We switched to “A Small Orange” host and are much happier 🙂

    Best,

    Hi Hannah,

No Im not. I will install it and see from there.
    Thanks for the tip.

Another question: I want to create 3 different languages each with there own website name.

F.e. http://www.website.com (for the default English language)
    http://www.china.website.com (for the Chinese version)
    http://www.spanish.website.com (for the Spanish version)

Can I multi use the Virtue theme or do I need to buy a separate theme for each language site?

    Hi,
So you’re wanting a multi-lingual site, correct? Have you seen this tutorial- https://www.kadencewp.com/working-wpml/ ?

    Pierluigi,
Are you using that font anywhere else on the site? Can you post a link?
In the future please start a new topic rather than posting in one marked as resolved:)
