In reply to: Logo in the topbar area – Pinnacle
Thank you for your suggestion. I’ll work on learning about child themes. One last question: Is the topbar widget area restricted to a certain width or can I increase the width of the topbar widget area – especially if I am not using a topbar menu? Thanks. -Chris

Hey,
1. No, you will need to change a lot on your site when switching themes. Unfortunately Ascend is built differently than Virtue, so it will require a decent amount of work to switch themes.
2. You can use a search box by adding it via the header widget area in Appearance> Widgets.
Hopefully this is helpful!

I am using the topbar widget area already on the right side of the topbar. I was hoping to have the logo on the far left and the widget area on the right. I have been able get a topbar menu on the left and my topbar widget area on the right. Since Pinnacle theme does not support a topbar logo, can I do anything creative with the topbar menu to get it to display a logo somehow?

May 29, 2017 at 2:10 pm #147038Hey,
That isn’t an option within the theme options. You can add an image or visual editor widget into the topbar widget area through.Ben
In forum: Pinnacle ThemeIn reply to: Visible menu on mobile
What exactly are you using this plugin for? Just placing different menus in different areas on your site? If so, you could do this using page builder and adding menu widgets to page builder columns, then you wouldn’t need to use the plugin and I would be able to help you out more.
Is this the purpose of the plugin?

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn forum: Virtue ThemeHi Robin,
Your homepage cannot be both a static page and a latest post page, however, there are workarounds! One option is to use the home widget area. Enable it about Page Content in your Homepage Layout Manager (Theme Options > Home Layout) then you can add a visual editor widget (or whichever) from Appearance > Widgets.
Another option is to set your page as a static page and add your latest posts via shortcode like this:[blog_grid orderby=date items=4 columns=3]
Hope one of those options works for you!Hannah

May 26, 2017 at 12:35 pm #146791You have two options here you can create one parent category for your 4 subcategories.
Or you can just use the home widget area and place a shortcode there like this:
For Mosaic:
[portfolio_posts items="10" cat="apps, branding, marketing, tech-talk" layout="mosaic"]
For Masonry:[portfolio_posts items="10" cat="apps, branding, marketing, tech-talk" height="none"]Ben

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: How to make two columns in the widget area
Kevin – I had two widgets in the Header area. I have removed one, Virtue:Split Content, and the one that remains is a Site Origin Editor. I have also used a Kadence Slider to enter the “cloud” with a hyperlink within that Site Origin Editor together with the text.
This is on my test site http://www.haacko.co.nz/
I hope I have understood your instructions?

In the header, widget area, I am trying to have an image plus text. I cannot find a way of aligning them separately. I have various methods and failed. I would appreciate someone giving me the clue as to how to best achieve this?

May 24, 2017 at 2:34 pm #146582You can’t in the widget. it’s not designed to input html. The output is into an h5 tag.
You didn’t post a link so it’s hard to know what you’re wanting to do but I think you’re going to want to use something else if you’re looking to add multiple lines. have you considered the Kadence slider? Or just adding a background image a widget area?

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Blog style
Hey Scott,
1. You can have tabs with your posts by adding them as shortcode like this:
[tabs][tab title="title1" start=open] [kad_blog orderby=date items=4 fullpost=false cat=photos] [/tab][tab title="title2"] [kad_blog orderby=date items=4 fullpost=false cat=video-post][/tab][tab title="title3"][kad_blog orderby=date items=4 fullpost=false cat=Adventure][/tab][/tabs]Just change the “cat=” of the shortcode to whatever categories you’d like each tab to display. For more shortcodes, see here:
http://docs.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/shortcodes/2. You could configure something similar to this by using page builder. I suggest using Virtue Image Menu widgets in a four column page builder row, with one widget per row. Configure the image you’d like, and then add the link to your categories. If you’re unfamiliar with page builder, I suggest reading through this tutorial:
https://www.kadencewp.com/using-page-builder-virtue-premium/3. If you go into the post settings, you can enable custom excerpts by clicking Screen Options at the top of the page, and making sure that the “Excerpts” box is ticked. Then you should see an area towards the bottom of the page to input custom excerpts. Does this work for you?
Hopefully this is helpful for you!

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Boxes around menu items
Hey Kevin,
With CSS, it is totally possible to get the menu items styled that way. However, the layout of Virtue’s header doesn’t allow for the widget area to appear next to the menu as the example shows.
Are you a Kadence Member? If so, I suggest trying to configure this header using Ascend Theme, as it has a built in option for displaying widgets next to the menu.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Call to actions
Since the footer isn’t designed by default to accept a single footer column, it will require some custom CSS to get a call to action to display across the footer. Let me know when you get the widget
The demo you linked to is using the Home Content area for its call to action though. If you’re going for that look exactly, I do not suggest using a widget in the footer.

Install that. Then add the widget area shortcode into the sitewide footer shortcode area.
