Hi

I’m in the process of setting up my blog page options and I’ve realized that I don’t think I can do what I would like to. Most of my posts will be accompanied by illustrations, which don’t really crop down as well as photographs, so here’s my problem:

I like the look of the landscape option for images on the blog main page, and having the same image at the top of the post page is ok too (so I’ve been using the ‘image’ format option) but I don’t like the square image that is used on the recent posts list, and the ratio on the home page blog list is different again.

Ideally I would like a way to set up different images, the square one for the recent post list, the 848×400 for the blog list, a variable one for the top of the post page, and another for the home page (more work for me I know, but optimizing images to suit all ratios at once is not going well at all). Is there any way of doing this?

Alternatively, is there a way of having a default set of images for the recent posts list which varies according to the category of post? I would be very happy to have a set of optimized images which stand in for what the post topic is. Although, this may confuse matters as I didn’t want to list all posts on the home page and so was using an additional ‘featured’ category to filter, but that’s not essential – if it was possible to set up these default images but not with the option of more than one category I could abandon the homepage filtering.

At the least, is there a way to change the image ratio on the home page, and maybe also the main blog page?

Finally, is there a way to set different post except lengths for the home page and blog page?

I hope that makes sense, and I completely understand if there is no easy way of implementing these many requests.

Thanks for your help, and thanks again for this template, it really is almost entirely perfect for me!

Danielle
