Collapse TOC when one of items is clicked

When I use TOC as a sticky element under the header, I need it to collapse once one of the headings is clicked, otherwise, it blocks all the screen, and collapsing it back via the small icon on the top corner is very inconvenient. Is there a workaround for that? As currently, I don’t see an option for that.
It would also be very handy if collapsing/expanding of TOC could be done by clicking anywhere on the whole row, not necessarily on the small icon.
