CSS priority child-theme

Hello, I’m creating a website on a child theme from Virtue Theme Premium, but, when I try to add new css on the style.css (child theme), it is overwrited by the style.css file from the father theme.
Please, could someone help me to make that wordpress overwrite the css with the css that I’m putting on the style.css? (child theme)
