Custom Fonts

Hi there,
just want to double check something with the custom fonts plugin. Do I have to upload all versions of the font file or is it good enough to just use one (e.g if I have the otf, ttf or woff file can I just use one of those?) If I can just use the otf or ttf file does that automatically embed etc so it will work across different operating systems / search engines etc?
