Desktop looks nice while mobile a mess

Hi there,
I’ve used your theme to help my client build following website. And I have modified some CSS to meet client’s requirement.

Now the site looks nice on desktop, while some elements are quite a mess on mobile(for example, the very long search bar and text being cut).
Based on my limited knowledge of html/css, it might be caused by my CSS violating the responsive design practice. Can you give me some advice to my css so that all the elements on the page can resize automatically??(like the slide and the menu)
