Display only default variation price on category page

Hi
On the product listings (category pages etc) I would like to display only the default variation price. I sell tea – so, for example:
English Breakfast: 125g – £3.50 (default variation)
NOT
English Breakfast: £1 – £60
I have a large variety of pack sizes and the smallest packs vary in price differently from the larger packs, so it is not helpful to customers in understanding the relative price of products to see the price range. Also, using am Ajax price filter becomes rather pointless.
Can this be achieved via the theme somehow? I could not find any satisfactory answers online.
