Dropdown menu styling with topbar navigation

Hi
I am using the topbar for my main navigation, but the dropdown menu style from the Menu Settings doesn’t seem to adjust the styles. Do I need CSS for this? If so, could you please give me a sample, including a border around the dropdown if possible?
