Gallery issues

Hey there, I’ve got a couple of questions related to galleries:
1) I’m using a text widget to display a gallery in the footer of my website, “[gallery caption="true" type=slider height=100 ids="1468,1768,1770,1776,1775,1779,1773,1774,1782,1780,1778,1777,1766,1771"]” –> it looks bad: pictures are offset, regardless of me changing the height parameter.

2) I’d like to have caption always displayed on the grid type of gallery, not only on hover; I use [gallery columns="4" caption="true" masonry="false" ids="1468,1768,1770,1776,1775,1779,1773,1774,1782,1780,1778,1777,1766,1771"] –> the captions only show up on hover. 3) I’d like this to be the default option whenever creating a wordpress grid gallery (visible captions).
