Home Layout and Homepage Issues

My homepage layout only has the latest blog posts widget enabled. I’ve visited my site a few times in the last couple of days to find that the latest blog posts are not visible on the homepage. The links to the posts are still there, but invisible. My mouse can activate the link, but I just can’t see anything. So far, I’ve been able to remedy this issue by going to the Homepage Layout and disabling and then re-enabling the latest blog post widget. This is a band-aid fix. Could you help me find a more permanent solution?
Also, the last time I disabled the latest blog post widget, I could not re-enable it. It wouldn’t slide back over to the enable side. Not sure what is going on and could definitely use some help.
Warning: I’m kind of a website novice and any coding references or technical jargon will likely be over my head. Could you tell me in layman’s terms what I need to do to fix this permanently? Here’s a link to the site: *Login to see link
