Home layout with different background

Hi,
I have a question about the home layout. On my homepage I have the portfolio carousel and the blog post carousel. How can I have different backgrounds for them? I just want simple colors, nothing complicated.
I checked in the theme options, but couldn’t find anything specific. Maybe a CSS would help.
